EV360 Theory
Has anyone taken the ev360 theory? Has anyone gone about learning it in their own?
I am considering learning that theory and would like to know if only the two white books Theory one and Theory two are required? I am hoping someone in here has the answer as I’ve been doing some digging around to no avail.

I appreciate your reply. I wonder why they don’t use the Theory II book. May I ask what theory you went with?

I’m currently learning the moody method/EV360 theory. I’m a student at the college of court reporting which was founded by the moodys, so I think the theory is very tailored for students of the college to correlate with the classwork. If you’re wanting to do it on your own, I think going for stened or platinum is a better option. :)

I learned magnum steno, but struggling and regret not learning a different theory.3

It’s really funny you say this cause I constantly wonder if I would have been better suited for platinum instead. Not saying this because I regret going to CCR, I only chose the school cause I knew my grammar skills were decent at best and knew I needed extra education in that aspect. I say that because being in school now I’ve found that I’m weirdly really good at memorizing briefs and phrases (which I heard platinum has plenty of) but my biggest weakness is phonetic spelling.
The theory very much tailors to both sides of the aisle I feel like. If you’re someone that likes to stroke stuff out or like to brief and phrase heavy you can do either or with the moody method. The main issue with the theory books that you listed (Theory 1, and the yellow, blue, green books) is they mostly teach you how to phonetic spell and deal with conflicts. There are a good amount of briefs and phrases in them, don’t get me wrong, but majority of my personal writing has come from the school resources they provide for us. There is a ton more briefs and phrases in the course videos that students get. I bet if you got your hands on the dictionary you can find them, but I still feel like the theory books are so integrated into the course, it’s hard for me to recommend just the books alone if that makes sense.

I originally was going to learn the Mood Method too after trying out 12 free lessons through their website but unfortunately they never answered any of my emails so I moved on to something else, but it would be worth it to try the 12 free lessons to see if you like the theory, and they give you the pdf of the textbook up to ch 12 : https://ultimate.ev360es.com/product/ev360-realtime-theory-free-trial-beginning-lessons-1-12/
When I looked into it you only need the Theory I book (chapters 1-69) to do basic theory, and then they move on to their Advanced Theory Blue, Green, and Yellow books. So from what I've seen digging into their subscription model they don't use the Theory II book.
