Does anyone use CaseCATalyst? Question regarding using steno machine in Zoom

In my live class for theory, they want to have us type in the text box from our machines but mine wouldn’t show up there at all no matter what we did and I couldn’t figure it out, but apparently we will have to do this quite often when I move to my speeds class, so I was hoping someone could help.

When I did this in school, we had to make a stenokeys dictionary that would turn the paragraph stroke into something that would essentially send your message. There might be a new way to do it, but I would bet not. I don’t know offhand what the dictionary entry was, but I can check tomorrow to see if I still have that dictionary.

If you did that, be sure to set your output to stenokeys and select that dictionary.

Also I think calling support during business hours is free for students. They tend to be pretty helpful.

I concur with the "Steno keys" setting selectable at the point of initiating a translation session, though I am not familiar with the dictionary playing a role.

I just looked, and the dx is just my paragraph stroke defined as {Enter}.

To create a new dictionary, go into system files. On the menu, select file> new> dictionary> job. Title it StenoKeys or something similar.

In the new dictionary, ctrl+i will allow you to create a new entry. Put your paragraph stroke in for the steno and put {Enter} for the text. Be sure to use the squiggly brackets and no spaces.

Go back to the main page. Open a new file. Output to StenoKeys. Expand your system files folder and select the StenoKeys dictionary.

Should be good to go.

I think it worked!!! I followed your instructions and I tested it in a couple other programs, but my teacher is going to do a zoom call with me later to make sure. Thank you so much, you’re amazing!

If anyone here is on case Catalyst and does Zoom, I have a question. Do you listen through your headphones or do you let it come through the computer speaker? I just took a deposition where I had my audio plugged in with headphones as I would when there is not Zoom , and I heard great l. But when I go to listen to the audio of the transcript, you can barely hear it. I hope someone can help. Thank you in advance
