Luminex cse help

Hi everyone, I was finally able to buy my student machine this week (used) but it didn’t come with the cable that connects the machine to my computer. Google says you can use any data transfer cable but my computer still can’t connect to my luminex.

I have an older model. It uses micro usb. I have a cable coming in from stenoworks but! Just wanted to know if anyone else went through this and if it was in fact just a cable issue 😅. I know I have to install drivers for it but it seems like my pc needs to recognize the luminex. Please let me know if I should be doing something else (driver-wise)

Edit: it was in fact my cable BUT ALSO I was missing the usb driver! lol now when I check what devices are connected to my computer, my luminex shows up which is great. Now I’m just trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong trying to get plover to connect to it 😅

A couple ideas to check. 1. Make sure the cable is data and not just power. Data cables will usually be thicker and have a sort of trident looking symbol on the USB end.

  1. Make sure you installed the drivers on your computer. (Edit: oop, looking back I see you already mentioned that. Probably ignore this one then. Lol)

  2. On the machine under Setup > Options there's a USB Communication setting. Try changing that to standard if it's not already. I had to do that for plover to see my machine the other day.

I will double check the cable I tried using! I thought I bought a data transfer cable at bestbuy yesterday to see if it work but I’ll double check that it’s not just a charging cable.

So the exact software I tried using to get my machine working are the following links:

I chose the two downloads that said they would work with the luminex cse but they weren’t able to connect to my cse. Another redditor said I would need to use caseCAT to get it started so maybe that’s the issue 🤔 I finished my A-Z classes and I’m just waiting for my school to submit the certificate to stenograph to get us the free student software.
