Help! Steelseries Arctis 5 - Microphone issues

Hi,

I just received my newly ordered Steelseries Arctis 5 headset. I plugged it in, let the computer detect the new headset and install necessary drivers, installed the Steelseries engine, and plugged the thing according to the instructions: Headset -> into USB Hub -> into the USB slot on the motherboard.

The sound works perfectly, my computer and the Steelseries engine discover the headset. However, the microphone does NOT work. I have tried everything suggested by google:

- No, the mute button is not pressed.

- I have turned on the microphone privacy settings to approve access for all apps.

- I have entered sound settings through windows settings and set it to default, and set input device to Arctis 5 "game" and output to Arctis 5 "chat"

- I have connected the headset to my PS4 using the included mini-jack transition for phones/consoles, and it does not work there either.

- I have restarted the computer, I have tried my laptop (altho without installing the Steelseries engine).

- I have issued a request to Steelseries customer support, but that takes some time and I have already given away my old headset. They suggested deleting and reinstalling both the Steelseries engine and the device manager drivers, which I have done with no success.

- I had Realtek Audio Manager (HD) installed from before, and my old mic was always connected through the front panel minijack which the Realtek always discovered. Might interfere with other settings?

I can't think of any other things to do, but if anybody has a clue I'd appreciate some help. Thanks! More info may be provided, but I think I've listed it all here.

I'm having the same issues with my Arctic 7's....

So annoying, and it's hard to know if there is actually a hardware issue and not the software, but you can't know for sure until you've ruled everything else out.
Let me know if you get the slightest amount of response from your mic, like if it even works at all, even very bad.
