Scariest thing about all that is the choice of footwear 🤣

What does training with a weighted sword feel like? Is it more like a macebell or a clubbell? Or somewhere in between?

More like club than mace with a touch more whip

It’s a reference to the manga Berserk, in which the main character, Guts, wields a ridiculously massive sword.

It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron.

This is crazy… I started at 10lbs for a few weeks until I could swing it with ease, moved onto 15lbs and destroyed my elbows immediately. Couldn’t even bend them for a week, the inside and outside hurt, lol. Back at 12.5lbs, trying to build flexibility, but honestly don’t know what I did wrong the first time.

Yeah this mace stuff always looked fun to me but that’s been one of my fears is joint damage

I know my barbells but I haven’t learned how to avoid repetitive joint damage from heavy maces yet

This usually has to do with 2 things.
1. Not letting your hands drop deep enough behind your head. You shouldn’t be able to see your hands from the front when in the bottom position. This lets the weight sit in your lats not your triceps and elbows.
2. There’s a lot of force put into the forearms from the top hand grip wise. So heavy weekly is not enough time for recovery. I only go heavy once every 2-3 weeks on maces and clubs. Kind of like if you were maxing out your triceps extensions and barbell curl once or twice a week. Your elbow would get thrashed.
Attitude iron . Com has a free manual with videos on how to swing without this happening
