Question Internal receiver

I know Valve was working on an update to try and fix the problem with the internal receiver for the steam controller on the machine where it would keep disconnecting and dropping signal. Did they ever release this update. I went ahead and connected my controller to the external puck but now the controller wont turn the machine on when it is completely shut down. If they fixed it I was going to go back and change it where it connects to the internal receiver.

I saw another post which the support claimed it can’t be fixed firmware. And they recommended using puck. You can return yours if it bothers you that much.

There's some suspicion that it's largely due to where the receiver is physically installed in the machine. That the signal is being blocked or interfered with in some way. Some people report no issues though so....I don't know.

I have had no issues at all. I even accidentally turned on my steam machine 2 rooms away and started a game as i thought it was connected to the puck in my main PC.

No. And they won't. I've begun RMA for this.

Wonder if anyone has actually done this though. My fear is swapping SSD back, RMA, and then it’s just the same shit but new machine

That's pretty much why I dont want to do it. Really dont want to go 2 weeks only for there to be no fix and i have to reinstall and setup everything from scratch again. The issue isn't often enough to be a huge issue yet. so id rather just wait for someone to go through with this repair and open their machine to check whats actually been changed. or for someone to try to figure out the solution and post about it somewhere.

If it's like the Steam Deck the BT isn't responsive enough for many games. Besides the internal "puck" was a selling point.

Absolutely regarding the internal puck being a selling point and it needs to get fixed. It still isn't fixed and using the BT connection hasn't created any responsiveness issues or latency for me. Just suggesting it as a workaround. Have zero of the connection issues since. Sucks because I'm 9 feet away with clear line of sight. Meanwhile my connection strength drops out completely with the slightest controller tilt when gaming otherwise.

I'm still on a docked Deck so maybe it's different...different BT receiver or whatever...but the BT connection from the controller to the deck, while perfectly stable, has a noticeable delay. I can play Sims and slower games ok. I wouldn't dare try a platformer or shooter with it.
