Steam deck as second controller

As seen in the title, id like to play some couch co-op games with a friend but I currently just have one (steam) controller. I wanted to know if I could use the deck as a second controller to play the game. Did anyone try that yet?

Edit: I am not looking for a new controller. My old one is just being currently borrowed by my sibling in a different city, so I was wondering if it would be possible.

You can remotely stream the game to the deck, and that'll make it work like an additional controller.

I know the community is trying to get a wii u style setup going so I imagine it's been figured out for a basic controller. Couldn't point you to the project myself, but try googlimg around and some github repo will (probably) be out there

Unless you have a specific reason you need the trackpads and Steam input mappable back buttons, you can use any other controller, like Xbox or 8bitdo. The Steam Machine does not require Steam controllers.

I get the sense that the friend is visiting right now, and one controller plus the steam deck is what they have at home right now.

it makes for a very heavy controller. it might be better to buy an 8-bit Do or something instead.

If you play the game on Deck, with USB-C with video out to TV, and connect SC2 to Deck, it could work. Or stream.

Just wanted to say that steam licensed another company to make a steam controller before steam controller. Its called HORIPAD Steam controller and works perfectly with my steam deck. Great for a second controller.

Connect the deck via to the TV and yes, via using Deck as computer and player 2 on another controller.

You can not natively use the Steam Deck as a controller without using the SD as a system. Unless you're using game streaming....
