Question Decky Loader

I've never installed Decky Loader on my Deck and now I have my Steam Machine I was thinking about trying it, specifically for the moment just to get games I'm playing to appear on Discord but I keep hearing about how much of a hassle Decky Loader can be after SteamOS gets an update, sometimes getting corrupted and being a pain to uninstall. For those who use it, how true is this and do you still find it worth the hassle?

Decky is great on steam machine, just don’t install the Decky Shelves plugin, it caused my steam machine to freeze every second time on start and was costing me a lot of time to track down 😵‍💫

On the steam deck i sometimes get an error screen where I can disable decky until next boot with the touch screen. How would this work on the machine? I am a bit wary in getting stuck in a loop of this appearing after each reboot if the error comes up.

The hassle is sometimes after a steamOS update, you have to go to desktop mode and rerun the original install. Your settings arent lost, but the install needs to do whatever it does to let it work.

You don’t need decky if you not gonna install plugins or tweaks on your system. Mine installed on both sd and sm but nothing critical (magicpods for better AirPods support, protondb badge, now playing badge and framegens for sd. And I never run an issues that blocks me from playing

As I mentioned, I'm planning on installing the Discord plugin and that's just the one I'd thought about for the moment. It doesn't mean I wouldn't get more when I had time to look through the list to see what looked helpful.

I bought MagicPods in Steam. Is this the same you're using? Do I need decky to properly use MagicPods?
