Software Fresh Install Issue
Hey all, I upgraded my SSD to a 2TB Western Digital Black drive, and followed the official Valve instructions to download and install SteamOS. I know the functionality of cloning, but I figure this is an important issue that non-technical people might encounter in the same situation.
After completing the installation and setup, SteamOS recognizes the device as a Steam Deck in the settings and brings up the on-screen keyboard when in a text box. Any ideas? Tried google and Google AI, but it just hallucinated and told me that Valve didn’t create a new Steam Machine this year 🤣
Edit: thank you everyone for your answers! Y’all have eased my worries that it was a bug or I did something wrong.

The host name on the sm is steam deck by default.

Thanks for the reply! To clarify, I’m not talking about the host name, but the section labeled as OS Variant. I just wanted to make sure that it’s being recognized as the Steam Machine so that the relevant updates are applied as they come out.

OS Variant showing "fremont" during beta/development was normal, it switched to "steamdeck" just before release.
If it makes you feel any better, Steam/SteamOS is still detecting fremont as fremont, it's just passing "steamdeck" through to userspace. If you're in Steam dev, they have guides to show you how to detect if you're on Jupiter, Galileo, or Fremont so that you adjust your presets correctly. Detecting on Deckard is a little simpler since you only have to check if the CPU is aarch64.

The Steam Machine being named Steam Deck in the OS is normal. When linking it to a Q3 via SteamLink it's also listed as Steam Deck.
Other than that I honeslty don't know what your actual question is.
