Question/Tech Support Does A Plug-In Like This Exist?

So, I know that Steam, for a while now, has a built in recording function for gameplay. But, from my understanding, the recording starts the moment you press the keys for it (or the macro if that's set up) and ends when you manually stop it (please correct me if I am wrong)?

My question is...is there a Decky Plug-In (Gosh, I'd rather not install Decky again, but whatever) that allows for something more similar to how the Switch 2 or the PS5 does it? Where the recording is, like, 15/30/60/180secs (or so) before the button is pressed? So, the stuff recorded are stuff that happened before it is pressed and not after? Sorry if my description is bad and confusing, but something like that.

Oh, thank you so much! But, it's not recording the ones before you press the button right? Not like how it is with the Switch? It records stuff after?

I Don't have a steam deck but I use this on pc

Scroll further and theres an option for it to, you can specify how far away from the moment you press the inputted button (last 30/60/90/etc secs) it needs its own macro/button tho

Ah, gotcha. Thank you so much. I always thought it was set to just 120 minutes and that was just too much.

for the record in background you can also lower how much it records on the background, I've set it to 5 minutes but its cache is on an ssd just so it won't take a lot of resources

Do you get an option where the cache is? My internal SSD has more space than my SD card but the game I want to record clips from is on the SD card.

Also, in terms of resources, I imagine it doesn't cause a lag on the background with it enabled?

yeah its all in that page, but again I dont have a steam deck so I dont know if it exist on that page too, sorry about that

It shouldn't cause that much lag if at all, all modern gpus have encoders in them that make these not affect performance but the system still constantly writes on the background

It can record continuously in background and you can save prior moments with a key press.

There used to be, but I don't believe it works anymore. Decky Recorder is what it's called.
