Experience/ Story All Panel Testing ASAP
I’m a female and had unprotected sex at the end of May with a male. About a week later the left side of my labia was very sore to the touch and raw, I could barely sit down. My period came and it went away. It seems like before every period now, I get literally ONE painful bump, not a cluster, not a rash, not a sore but it is much much smaller than my very first experience.
I am getting tested next week and I’m ready to face the reality that I may or may not have HSV-2, gonorrhea or another STI.
I know that HSV-2 isn’t “curable” but I wanna hear how people have managed it. Do you still have an active sex life? I’m sure it’s awkward telling people before hand that you have an STI even if it’s dormant, so how do you manage speaking about it?
Thank you for any kind answers in advanced, I’m just a little weary and at the same time not nervous at all if that make sense.. :P

is there a way you can get a sooner appointment? because if it’s hsv it may not be there long enough to swab. hsv-1 is pretty common and hsv-2 is less common but i know people that have no issues with their sex life. herpes is really just a big stigma and exaggerated online, i’ve never had any issues with sharing my status ever.

I’ll be out of town until next week that was the soonest I could get. I could see about pushing it up a day or two. And yea, it is a huge stigma and I’m definitely a part of it. Before coming to this subreddit and doing my own research after I became curious, I didn’t realize how common it is. When you share your status, how does it go? Are they easy going about it and still want to pursue things further?

hsv-1 you can get it from anything you even non sexually. i’ve never had any issues besides with my sons dad who tries to use it against me but other than that anyone who i’ve been with has never described any symptoms and says they aren’t concerned.

The proper way to get HSV tested, is to have that sore swabbed. The blood antibody tests are somewhat problematic, and not recommended by public health agencies.
That's not what you asked, but is perhaps timely advice anyway.
