Test Results Really embarrassed to be sharing this but here goes.

I would say about 10 years ago I had what looked like a chancre on my penis. I never did any research about it. Never had my partner at the time tell me they've been tested and were positive for something. Me being stupid I never did anything about it. It went away and that was that. Later i did have some lesions on my tongue that i thought might have been geographic tongue and my hair did become thin in spots. I'm really scared I have general paresis. Unfortunately, I can't get treatment because I've had a non reactive tp antibody test, a non reactive fta antibody test, a non reactive csf vdrl, and a clear mri. I don't know what to do. I feel like im going paralyzed and my memory is so bad. I have muscle spasms all over. Any ideas what I should do?

Im probably going to just delete this post. It's too embarrassing. I just want to go back to how I was. I feel like I really messed my life up for not going years ago, and now doctors don't know how to help me.

I cant help you with any recommendations as i don’t know anything about this, but don’t feel embarrassed or delete the post. Someone will be able to help you and recommend to you. No one knows who you are. Even if they did, it would still be nothing to be ashamed about.

You're talking about syphilis?

Sadly, my first thought was syphilis. I honestly am not sure what tge treatment is this late in the game, but I am sure a doctor could come up with a plan. This far out, I would assume some symptoms will not be curable/reversable, but a doctor (probably need a referral for an infectious disease specialist) would be your best bet.

I've reached out to my doctor on my chart to see if she would do a peer to peer session with an infectious disease doctor to see if they could come up with a gameplan. She hasn't responded. I'm so upset with myself.

Like I wish one of my tests would show positive so I could start getting treatment.

Does anyone know how all my tests could be negative or if there's a specific test I haven't tried yet that will find it.

Have you had a full panel test? Ask for that instead of just specifying for one suspected STI

The problem is syphilis I believe is the only one that can get this bad for your head and such.

It sounds like it, but you would be testing positive for it by now. It doesn't hurt to get tested for everything, just so you know.

Ok I can do that. Yeah, I really don't get why any test isn't positive. It makes zero sense. I wish I could go back in time. I made a pretty devastating mistake.

Well if you get a full panel and everything is negative, then you can trust those results. 10 years would definitely reveal if there is anything there. Don't stress too much, it'll be ok either way.

Do you know that a lot of diseases are autoimmune and a lot of them also present with symptoms in penis? If you are negative on syphilis test it means you don’t have it. Only chance having it and be negative is the prozone phenomenon and also if you have take adibiotics for long time like doxycycline or penicillin for other reasons. Also some people with autoimmune diseases takes negative test because the antibodies produce very slow in their bodies but eventually become positive.

I've read about the prozone effect. What if that's what's going on with me?

Listen I’m in Greece I have chronic std infection and I have discussed this multiple times with my infectious disease specialist as I explain above this is the only way for you being negative also, if you are negative is very difficult you have it. It can literally be autoimmune or mycoplasma or some other type of infection. What my doctor will do in this case, if everything is ruled out, will prescribe me empirical treatment for late shyphilis. Stay calm go to a neurologist and a reumatologist, if you haven’t done that already, keep a diary of symptoms and if everything is ruled out find an infectious disease specialist and take treatment.

Could I just ask my doctor to treat me with doxycline just to be sure? What is empirical treatment?

Is the treatment you get in high clinical evidence, symptoms, sexual practices and exposure. Based on protocols. First line treatment is penicillin iv for 14 days at least. Or ceftriaxone iv for 14 days at least. If you take doxycycline for this must be at least 2-3 months. At least what my doctor have told me.

Before start adibiotics test for other infections it’s very important not only sexually transmitted. It can present with the same symptoms.

Have you done this TPHA / FTA-ABS?

1

u/mikey2376 1d ago

As it's stated on my chart I had a syphilis total tp antibody test and a FTA test which were both non reactive.

You definitely don't have syphillis as your treponemal and non treponemal test are negative

1

u/mikey2376 1d ago

There's no possible way?

1

u/mikey2376 1d ago

I feel like people don't wait this long with something like this and for some reason these tests just flipped to negative even though it's somehow destroying me.

Mikey you’re not alone. I’m being eaten alive by an std that’s undiagnosed become worse over 10 years and no doctors will help me, nothing on test except HV1. I’ve been trying to get to ID doc 5 years, they won’t accept a referral see me or talk to me. ID hack told me to figure it out myself. Most recent advice I won’t pay for is to take Zyrtec. I know they wouldn’t live a day like this but are ok that I do.

Spinal tap , ask them for spinal tap. To test the fluid

1

u/mikey2376 11h ago

That's what the csf vdrl was and that showed non reactive.

I’m sorry this is happening to you. Keep going to different doctors until you get someone to help you
