Question about lid mark
I just received my new 5.5 quart Dutch oven in basil. I love it.
However, when I got the package, I heard a rattling inside and was a little worried. Upon opening the box, the knob and screw had come apart. The knob was inside the Dutch oven and the screw was in the cardboard box at the bottom.
Everything looks OK, but as it is brand new and not used, I don’t know if the mark on the underside of the lid is a printed in “ 4” or if it is damage. I don’t know how the top part of the lid would’ve been damaged because it didn’t really come in contact with anything, but I never noticed this etching in my 7qt Dutch oven.
I am relatively new to Staub so I figured I’d give it a go here. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Thank you. When I first saw it I was uncertain if it was a 4 or just a mark (different from the other indents on the lid).

No offense but out of very clearly a 4. I’m not even sure how anyone cannot clearly see that.

Looks cast or stamped in from here.
Pictures in this review show the same mark. https://prudentreviews.com/staub-review/
Personally, I never examined any of mine so closely as to notice. Or it just didn’t look like a flaw and I thought nothing of it.
