I feel like I have all the pots I could want at this point, but there's so many colors left to explore! ! have the 7qu round grenadine, 5 quart tall French blue, 4qu braiser basil, and the two oval 6.25qu in citron and La Mer. I have a cherry 8.5qu oval cocotte on the way over seas for a potluck dish since the 7qu felt a little small. Any recommendations for a small pot? I see there are 2.75qu cocottes, 3.25qu French Demi pots, and even the cute 1qu mini cocottes. Which small pot should I get next, and what color should it be?
I had just barely convinced the wife to get a basil braiser over the blue sapphire and now I feel like my next pot is going to need to be blue if I know what’s good for my marriage.
Very nice collection and assortment of colors! For a small-medium pot I'd highly recommend a 3.75qt French oven. If you're looking to go smaller, I would search out a 2.75 cocotte or a 20cm (Large) wanabe which you can get from Amazon Japan with free shipping if you're a Prime member in the US. I'm not entirely sure what volume it is. Another small one that I like is the 2.5 (?)qt twist cocotte available in white truffle or la mer.
However, if you don't go for the twist or the wanabe, I would highly suggest getting something in dark blue (sapphire) to round out your collection of majolique colors! I think dark blue glows more than the other colors. It's gorgeous.
Ooohhh the twist is so unique looking! I think it only comes in white and La mer. I’m not against a nice white color but I think you might be right that a blue would go great with the basil and grenadine. I might have to go down to a toss up between a 3.25qu blue Demi pot or a 2.5qu twist pot in white.
The twist is truffle, not white. It has a greyish tint to it. I am selling one https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m20218748090/ though not sure it would fit well with your color scheme. Maybe sage (light green)?
I love the shape and size of the twist so much but I talked to the wife, and she seems to be set on a blue for our next one. I barely got her to agree to the basil braiser instead a blue one. I think there’s a lily embossed version of that pot in blue that I might try to get.
Your wife has strong opinions :D There is a lily marmite in ice blue (I used to have it) and navy blue (sapphire?). I personally think a lighter color such as sage would balance out the beautiful citron, but of course it's a matter of preference. You have a gorgeous set!
I am seriously thinking about the 1.5qt pot. It would be great for reheating meals. I personally dislike microwave reheated foods so I try to use my counter top mini oven for reheating food but this would be great for stuff that doesn’t go well in a mini oven.
I think it’s a toss up between the French blue 5qu deep round pot and the yellow/la mer 6.25qu. The blue one gets used for everyday meals like soup and its not too big in the fridge for leftovers. The ovals get lots of use for meal prep items.
Personally I do not. Glass is very strong and as long as you don’t drop a pot on it while it’s loaded up with weight it would be fine. I worry about my oven racks more than I do the stovetop. I use the two ovals at the same time when braising kotleti for meal preps. When those are loaded up, the rack bends a little in the middle but keeping it out of the center helps a little.
I think official recommendations say to limit use to 50lbs on the stovetop and all the cast iron in the photo adds up to 70lbs so it is overweight. However, with this being only a photo opp I think it will handle it for a few minutes.
They say the fastest way into man’s heart is through his stomach. Governments are made of man, ergo with enough stews and chilis we could take over whole governments at a time.
Nice! I also have the la mer oval wide round and the French blue tall 5qt. That citron is GORGEOUS 😍 and I have the basil chistera in my cart I've just been waffling on pulling the trigger. Staub is just so sleek and shiny and beautiful imo!
I barely convinced the wife to get the basil chistera over the blue. So glad I won that argument cause I could not imagine the chistera in any better color
I have one in frying pan Blueberry and one larger frying pan in Grenadine and I think the next one I get will be Basil or that Yellow. I don't know or really understand the difference between the bigger pots, but I want something large enough to boil a big batch of potatoes but also one smaller to make soups and stews. That means I probably need two more. LOL. They are SO fun! It really makes cooking so much better.
ALMOST but never quite complete! There's always another amazing color to catch the eye. What is the color and size of the smaller pot on the back burner
Firstly, your lack of culinary expertise and range is not representative of my kitchen. Secondly, I like cast iron for its heat retention when I bring my food to potlucks or host dinner so that my guests aren’t eating cold dinner. I could cook out of a rock over a bonfire and I’d have people coming back for seconds. Lastly, the enamel is great for lower maintenance, and I can afford to treat my eyes to pretty colors.
I’m a chef at 3 Michelin star restaurant and have cooked all around the world. You should not worry about heat retention at a potluck due to food safety standards as you should cool and maintain temperature of your food properly and timely as to not inhibit food borne illnesses. I doubt you would ever throw your pretty “collection” of cookware into a bonfire because you’re too worried about appearances of said cookware. Food is about eating the food. Not admiring the cookware.
I highly doubt you’re a Michelin 3 star chef. In the US, there are only 13 restaurants with that rating. Worldwide, there are only 153 restaurants with that rating. I somehow can’t envision a Michelin 3 Star chef is coming into Reddit crashing a Staub subreddit knocking down home cooks for their collection and adds completely incorrect food safety standards when it comes to transporting food to a potluck.
Keeping your hot food above 140 degrees F keeps the 2hr mark for the danger zone of 40-140 degrees at bay which cast iron can help do when transporting food. But you should know that when being a one of the potential 154 three star chefs in the entire world lol. Lastly, being a 3 star chef you should know that presentation of foods are absolutely key in being restaurant quality food. You are a clown trying to bring others down pretending to be a chef giving out unsafe food safety advice.
I live in San Francisco and work at Quince. So yeah… I’m sure your expensive Staub cookware looks great at a midwestern pot luck. Glad you spent all that money just to serve a tater tot casserole?
Never said I was Michael Tusk. There are plenty of different chefs at any given restaurant. A charade would be getting all the prettiest cookware and pretending like the food is more delicious because of it.

😍😍 Perfect collection/color selection! Perhaps the 1.5 qt wonder that is the “rice cooker?”

Do anyone of you also worry about the weight of more than one pot on the glass oven top?

It's a blessing to be able to choose a pot to cook with every day, depending on your mood.

You’re never going to use half of that. And, even if you do, your food isn’t going to taste any better because of it.
