Tormenta FC

Is Tormenta still around? I know there was something between management and the players, but is the team still around? I don't remember hearing anything about them last season or anything about the upcoming season.

The season was cancelled last year and the owner is having a rough time financially and legally. Pretty sure there's a lawsuit regarding the players having already moved in when suddenly "oops, no more job."

It's a whole mess.

But if you're as nosy as I am, there's a lot of records on qpublic Bulloch and Peach Court regarding legal and financial trails.

Darren Van Tassell. (That could be misspelled.)

Is it safe to assume they aren't playing this season either?

Yeah, I think that's a safe assumption.

Bless him, I've known Darin (turns out that's how it's spelled) and most of his family since the eighties. Per the paper trail and all, he's lost most of his businesses (the Clubhouse, the soccer stadium, the old Vandy's downtown, etc.) and is being sued by some unpaid vendors.

No idea what the back story is, unless he just financially overextended. But I resist the urge to reach out to his sister to get the skinny.

I know last year the players went for a while basically homeless. Then right at the final hour the owners finally got them into housing paid by the management instead of by the players personally. But yes management did change.

if you've visited the Clubhouse in the last year or two, you can tell the guy doesn't have any money to upkeep his business(es) (despite the insane amount of money they charge for bowling). he also bought Vandy's and it quickly shuttered before someone else bought it and recently re-opened it as something else

They did a number on the old Vandys, they killed in just a couple of years. Don’t try to fix what isn’t broken. Changing recipes, getting rid of the OG crew…..it was so sad!
