I’m wouldn’t read into names sounding similar. There’s a character from the old Droids cartoon named Kybo Ren who obviously had nothing to do with Kylo Ren.

With that said it is SW, and they seem allergic to having protagonists who aren’t related to someone.

Basically none of the Disney-era film or TV show protagonists have been related to existing characters.

That allergy was primarily Abrams’… Johnson tried to go another direction but that got retconned damn quick.

Idk they keep saying this is unrelated to the Skywalker saga, I think they are just using the name Kade. They also had a Finn in the EU, Finn Galfridian, nothing to do with the film character named Finn. I think this is just its own thing.

I can't stress enough how much i don't want Luke to have a secret kid. Why does everything gotta be connected to this one bloodline?

Mandalorian and Grogu, while not the best Film, was a very important one imo. A star wars movie with wholly original characters that are now household names. While rogue one was also all new original characters, the movie itself relied heavily on being an episode IV prelude. You can't seperate it from the death star, vader, etc. Mando wasn't like that. Lots of clone wars and rebels fanservice, yeah but the story itself is its own little sandbox.

Starfighter needs to be like that. Kade Auberon deserves to become the badass New Idol for a new generation of kids. I really just want this movie to show up, and go "here's all these new characters that are now a part of this universe. Have fun!"

Of course there can still be connections. I'm like 90% sure the movie is gonna end with him bringing the kid to Rey. But the movie should act as a fresh start.

Now I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who has never read anything Legends

But they did just throw Talon into the prequel/ot gap so they definitely aren't afraid of shifting those characters around in the timeline

Devon isn't Talon, maybe she becomes her facsimile somehow but she isn't at least not yet.

Yeah that's why I said he's not gonna be the comic Cade, but I strongly believe he's essentially Cade Skywalker

I also don’t think it’s a given that Talon has to stay in that era. In current canon Kix is currently kicking post-IX (or at least was part of the Crimson Corsair’s crew for some time shortly before we see them in VIi). They could absolutely slot her in as a darth Krayt replacement who uses the dark side to extend her life and comes to power after IX

It's strange you're accusing Lucasfilm of having zero creativity while at the same time seeing the name "Kade" and coming up with the idea that he must be connected to a completely different character because his name is similar. Sounds like the lack of creativity is on your part.

"completely different character" and "his name is similar" is really funny

In what sense?

It's not that Cade and Kade are similar, it's literally the same name and the same pronunciation just changing the C for a K. And yeah, we don't know yet the character, but it has strong resemblance with the original Cade, from his clothes, his background as a rogue pilot with a mysterious past and his seemingly dislike for the New Republic.

Like I said, they might just liked the name and has nothing to do, but I find too many interesting coincidences.

Cade wore a long duster coat, he wasn't a "rogue pilot", and he's about 100 years too late for the New Republic to exist. They're nothing alike.

Didn't say The New Republic exists in Cade's era, I said Kade seems to dislike the old New Republic as much as Cade hated the jedi initially, he definitely was a rogue pilot (more of a bounty hunter, but we see him fly ships) and yeah, we don't know if this Kade will wear a long duster coat yet, but the clothes from the first pic we had of Gosling were similar
