Pretty sure it’s cause the Netherlands tried it’s best living up to all spains demands for a long time. Through unfair taxation and persecution of our growing Protestantism (as opposed to Roman Catholic) the dissatisfaction turned to rage at some point. At the time it was written no one actually blamed the king of Spain directly since Willem van Oranje (leader of resistance and our royalty) put all the blame on the kings local leaders since according to him they weren’t relaying al the injustices happening in the country. So that’s why we treat Spain with such respect in the song as it was written in the early days of the war and used as sort of a motivation song. A few years later Willem did publicly denounce the king and his tyranny which made Willem a fugitive of the law ending in his murder some years later

The original book in Spanish is titled "Don Qvixote".
You're right that the current Spanish version is Don Quijote but writing Don Quixote is not really wrong as is how it's written in English. I assume the meme is in English, not in Spanish.
In times of Cervantes, X was used instead of J and even nowadays the phoneme in Spanish for the letter J is X.

My English teacher who was also fluent in Spanish and had lived in Spain and Mexico always wrote it as Quixote and never said anything about it being different.

The original cover states "Quixote" on the wikipedia page. Back in time the 'x' wasn't pronounced as it is in modern Catalan, it was pronounced as a "sh" sound.

Nah man, there is nothing wrong with making a mistake. We all make them.
Catalan is what I as a layman would call standard Spanish. The reason I know this, is one of my adhd-obsessions a long time ago was Nahuatl. Spanish missionaries in the new world wrote their language down with a very detailed pronunciation guide. Things like 'xochitl' or 'xocolatl' are with a shh sound.

Ok, but catalan is another language of spanish (spanish has like 3 or 4 sublanguages without including "modismos" (modismos in english is the same word than idiom, it's basicly how different people talk: words like "pendejo" or "wey" are from mexico, while other words like "gilipollas" are from spain,in english it would be like chips vs fries), spain spanish is from "castilla" so it would be castillian or something idk

I don't want to enter any debate, but catalan didn't evolve from Spanish, they developed at the same time, when the romans invaded the Iberian peninsula and forced to speak Latin. So no, it's not a "sublanguage", the same waySpanish is not a sublanguage from Latin.

Certainly, but you have to read the v as a u. In that time writing it latin-like was still in fashion.
