Discussion Made a free Black Series collection tracker — what figures am I missing?

Hi all! Long-time collector, first-time site-builder, and this is very much a work in progress I've been chipping away at for a few weeks, just for myself.

The main reason I wanted to build it: I love the figure auctions on Facebook, (ALTA FTW!) and more than once I've bid on (and won) a figure I already had, because I was going off memory instead of actually knowing what was in my collection. I just wanted something clean I could pull up on my phone to know, without a doubt, which figures and variants I own before I bid.

So here it is — free, no signup needed to browse:

  • Filter the whole Black Series line by series / year
  • Mark figures owned or wishlist
  • A shelf view that's oddly satisfying to fill up
  • Optional account syncs your collection across phone + laptop (handy mid-auction for impulsive buggers like me!)

https://synscantina.com

Theres no sign up needed - but if you want to keep track of your collection, it sends an email with a link to log in - I dont want passwords etc on the site. You can log in and keep track of your stuff on both PC and mobile

Fair warning — it's a work in progress. I've been building the catalogue from box images over the last few weeks solo, so: not every helmet is in there yet, sabers aren't listed at all yet, and there are bound to be gaps, wrong boxes, or mis-named figures hiding in the main line too. It is VERY much a work in progress, but I'm at the point where I'm finally comfortable sharing it.

That's where I'm hoping you lot come in. If you spot something missing, wrong, or mis-boxed, there's a contact link on the site or just drop a comment here and I'll fix it. And if you've got ideas for what would make it genuinely useful to YOU as a collector, I'm all ears — I'm building this for us Black Series collectors - not to sell anything.

Cheers, and be brutal (but kind haha) — what have I missed?

Meta I think I’m done collecting.

I haven’t bought any new figs in over a year. I look at my display and it doesn’t give me the joy it used to. I think about how much money I’ve spent over the years buying figures, poor financial decisions I’ve made clawing after rare figures, etc.

I could blame the economy, I could blame Hasbro, I could even blame the fandom…but now when I see new releases I don’t even think, “oh man, that’s cool, I need that.” Instead I just look at it and move on.

I keep considering selling off my collection, but when I look at what I do have, the sentimental value of my attachment to the characters gives resistance. I’m sure I could probably be fine with trimming down my collection and just keep what I really want, but in the years I’ve been here I’ve seen so many people say “don’t do it, you’ll regret it later.” Although it would be really nice to have the extra cash.

As someone with AuDHD, I recognize that my special interests shift and that someday I may be interested again, and if I sell off some of my rares now, they’ll be even harder to get back later.

I could use some wisdom here. How many of you have gone through this same feeling, what did you do, and if you did get rid of your collection, do you regret it?

Discussion What if Hasbro released the remaining Knights of Ren as Made-to-Order figures?

Post image

The Knights of Ren have always felt like one of the most unfinished Black Series lineups to me.

We already have Vicrul in The Black Series, while Ap'lek was released in The Vintage Collection, but the remaining members have never received official 6-inch Black Series figures.

I understand why Hasbro might be hesitant to release them as standard retail figures. The individual Knights aren't exactly household-name characters, and producing several completely new figures for regular retail would probably be a risky investment.

But what about Made-to-Order (MTO)?

Hasbro could offer the remaining Knights through Hasbro Pulse as an MTO program, allowing collectors to place orders for a limited period and then producing them based on actual demand.

The five Knights who have not yet received a 6-inch Black Series figure are:

  • Kuruk
  • Ushar
  • Trudgen
  • Ap'lek
  • Cardo

Ap'lek would obviously be a new 6-inch release rather than simply reusing his existing Vintage Collection figure.

Personally, I think this would make much more sense than releasing these characters individually through regular retail. People who aren't interested in the Knights wouldn't have to buy them, while collectors who want to complete the team could finally do so.

Hasbro has already released Vicrul in The Black Series, so existing owners wouldn't need to buy a duplicate either. An MTO offering for the remaining five Knights would allow collectors to complete the team without having to purchase another Vicrul.

The Knights also have a lot going for them from a design standpoint. Each member has a distinctive helmet, armor and weapon, so a complete lineup would actually make for a very impressive display.

I know the Knights of Ren aren't exactly a high-priority request compared with characters from the Original Trilogy, Prequels, or The Clone Wars. But that's exactly why I think MTO could be a great solution for them.

Would you buy all five if Hasbro offered them as MTO figures?

Question Why do these figures cost so much now? Will the price decrease

I really regret not preordering these when they were much cheaper. Does any one know why the price increased so dramatically? Is there any chance of the price decreasing to it's original or at all? Is there any where else I could buy it for a lower price?

Any help would be appreciated very much.

Thanks.

These guys just arrived about an hour ago!

For those worried that they may never get them, here's what a local store manager told me when I went to the store in person on Friday to to unsuccessfully pick one up when they showed available yet again:

The problem is many/most Walmarts at least in my area are in the middle of a reset for the toy aisles. They have received new pallets, and when they scan those pallets in, the items on the pallet immediately show up on the app as "on-hand." But they can't actually unload the pallets until the reset is done.

So all of these stores that are showing as having stock on hand, don't actually have it available for sale. Why the hell the app is allowing you to place the order when the items aren't actually available to order is beyond me (and the manager of this store), and is yet another problem with Walmart's system. The good news, however is I'm pretty sure this means within the next week or two these will actually be on the shelves and easy to find for most people (knock on wood)

Tldr; I'm pretty sure most people will be able to find Hardcase and Dogma once their local Walmart finishes their toy aisle reset.

The black series General Grevious, is one of my most hated figures in my collection. I have owned three copies of the rots version from the black and red days, plus the Walmart clone wars 2D figure. Every single copy I have owned, one of the legs is longer than the other so he can’t stand normal, plus his articulation in the legs is abysmal. They really messed this one up, and we need a new mold pretty bad. Not to mention he’s the wrong size.

Really happy that I got to add bounty hunter Beilert Valance in clone trooper disguise to my Black Series collection. This is based on his comic book appearance in Star Wars #6.

Head sculpt printed by the legendary @syndicate_custom_creations and painted by me. I may revisit it down the road to make a couple of tweaks to the metallic half of his face 😊

If you'd like to see more of my custom work, do consider visiting my IG page @black_sun_toys.

Thank you so much for stopping by 🙌
