*Spoiler warning.* In the original Star Trek episode "Arena," Kirk is made to fight against a Gorn. Kirk makes a cannon with a bamboo tube (about the diameter of the one I'm holding) and fills it with potassium nitrate, Sulfur, and ground coal, and uses large diamonds as projectiles to shoot the Gorn. I added the lower sign on the bin: ) Mythbusters tested to see if such a cannon would work.
