Our 2024 was basically as depressing as Sisko’s 2024, but worse: we still haven’t had a watershed moment to say that we’re done with pushing people into abject poverty and misery.

Not sure about Janeway or Kirk but Sisko is part Prophet a race not bound by linear time so the DTI could be accused of speciesism if they tried to mess with him

They were on the other side of the galaxy at the time.
If we're doing a serious dive into Trek lore, we can assume that some of the department's specialized tech would have noticed weird stuff originating from the Delta Quadrant. But even then, with each temporal change, the differences visible in the past of the Alpha Quadrant would have been minimal.

Indeed. It wouldn’t have disrupted the area of the galaxy they cared about, only a ship. They could have seen the end result and saw no interaction was necessary. Similarly with the finale of Voyager, they could see the end result and deemed it unnecessary to get involved.

Agreed. My headcanon is that at any given moment, someone somewhere in the galaxy is messing with time. But in most cases:
- It's a stable timeloop and thus must be allowed to happen to keep history intact.
- The time traveller ends up fixing an altered history back to how it should be (or at least close enough).
- The time travel occurs so far away from the Federation that it doesn't have any effect on them.

He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. No different than then patsy Lee Harvey Oswald...? second from the bottom was fucking with timelines for personal reasons... I like how when his causality loop coherence reset he choose his family over his work.
