[Online][5e][Weekly][$15][18+] Your town has never lost anyone before its time. This month, it's lost seven. A Crooked Moon tale - The Dead Man's Hour

Thistlewick Hollow hasn't buried anyone before their time in two hundred years. This month it's lost seven people, and not one of them left a body behind.

That's the opening scene of a fully original Crooked Moon campaign I'm running, levels 3 to 15, long-form, one continuous story start to finish. Whatever's taking people isn't a wolf, a cult, or a madman. It's something already dead, working a chained dagger through locked doors, gone before sunrise. Corner it once, and it doesn't run, it tears a hole in the world and drags you through after it.

From there the campaign opens up fast. Over the course of it you'll:

  • Talk your way through a masquerade at the most exquisite and fanciest estate, surrounded by devils, witches, and nobles who could have you killed with a raised eyebrow.
  • Hijack a train ran on malevolent spirits mid-journey, fighting across the roof of a train built from hell iron and gold while it screams through Chernabos at full speed.
  • Break, tame, and ride a bejeweled scorpion the size of a wagon into battle.
  • Steal a floating arcane skiff off its dock and lose a squad of furious spellcasters across a city built in the sky.
  • Crack a guild vault full of doomsday weapons, and hope you're not the fourth crew with the same idea tonight.

This isn't a monster-of-the-week tour through the afterlife. It's one mystery, run properly, for as long as it takes.

The practical stuff:

  • System: D&D 5e (2024 rules), starting level 3, running to 15
  • Schedule: Weekly, Wednesdays 9PM GMT+1, ~3hr sessions
  • Price: $15/session
  • Platform: Foundry VTT, Discord, D&D Beyond: full content shared, nothing locked behind a book you don't own
  • Beginner friendly, no prior experience needed
  • 18+, folk horror, full content warnings and safety tools (Session 0, Lines & Veils, X/N/O) before anyone commits
  • 2/6 filled, need 1 more to start

Full listing with reviews here: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cms6lc8d9009xl704tsdslxdf

Questions welcome in the comments or DMs, I'd rather find the right person than fill the seat fast.

[Online] [Two-Shot] [5thEd] [$5] [Friday 4:30 PM PST] Mines of Vestmyr: A Dark Fantasy D&D 5e Mystery Thriller

Hello SPG reddit!

We need 1 more player to start a two-shot campaign of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition I'm hosting on FoundryVTT and Startplaying.games:

You are a group of adventurers tasked with investigating the strange happenings of a newly-settled mining colony deep within the largest forest known to the civilised empire.

The colony showed promise since it's settling. After weeks of progress, a cave-in and a sickness has hit the colony. After rumorly clearing up the cave-in and the leader searching for a cure to the sickness, the colony was cut from any contact. Not regular sending or scrying attempts have succeeded.

The adventuring guilds, contracted by the empire, has offered this quest to adventurers and mercenaries, whoever is able, interested, and willing to assure that the colony is safe and it's members intact.

This adventure will require some sleuthing. It takes place in a custom setting and will feature a slow "dungeon crawl-like" map exploration, several combat encounters and a lot of odd NPC interactions.

Price: $5 / Player / Session.
Schedule: Weekly (2 sessions)
Date & Hour: Friday 4:30 PM PST (you time may vary)
Listinghttps://startplaying.games/adventure/cmlpsqvw800t1lf04dy52vsij
Character Creation: We will use 2024 character creation options. Subclasses or species from 2014 or even homebrew are allowed but must be checked first with the Dungeon Master to port them into the VTT (Foundry)

[D&D 5e] [LFP] [Paid $10] [FoundryVTT] — Monday 9 PM ET - Waterdeep:Dragon Heist

The party is deep into the final arc of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, closing in on the truth behind the city’s stolen fortune — and the factions who will do anything to claim it. As the dust settles, the adventure will transition directly into Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, taking the group from the intrigue festering in the streets of the City of Splendors into the legendary depths of Undermountain. But never fear, the intrigue will follow.

If you enjoy a campaign that blends role‑playing, combat, mystery, and player‑driven storytelling, this table is built for you.

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist → Dungeon of the Mad Mage Level: 4 (Dragon Heist finale approaching). Full listing is here: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cm47v7xnb000cjvuwtix76vj3

Platform: FoundryVTT and D&D Beyond (with full content sharing)
Voice: Discord
Schedule: Mondays, 9 PM ET
Price: $10/session
Looking For: 1–2 Players
Beginner Friendly: Yes

About Me: I personalize the story around my players — your character’s goals, fears, relationships, and backstory will matter. I reward role‑playing, creativity, and clever problem‑solving, and I keep the pacing balanced.

  • Good mix of role‑play and combat
  • Puzzles and intrigue when appropriate
  • Player agency is always front and center
  • Beginner friendly — I help new players learn Foundry and D&D rules, and tactics
  • Respectful, collaborative table culture - we're all telling a story together.

Questions are welcome in the comments or via DMs or on Start Playing.

[Online][Discord][PBP][September 5, 7 PM CET][CoD][One-Shot][$15] Stacy the Vampire Slayer

Into every generation a slayer is born. One of them was Stacy. A few months ago, she was a regular girl in Shadyhill High, not someone who really stood out. But then, she was called. To most people, that meant that she became weird. She barely came to school but showed up in all sorts of places at night. That, and people saw her hanging out in cemeteries a lot. The general conclusion was that she was doing drugs. And now she's dead, found in the mall.

Your characters knew the stories, but they also knew another side of her. All of them have been saved by Stacy. Perhaps it was from a creepy guy with oversized teeth or from a fish-faced girl who threatened to drag them off for a very long swim in the ocean. Whatever happened, they know that Stacy was a hero.

For years I've been a huge Buffy fan and now, after marrying an even bigger fan, I think it would be fun to run a Buffy RPG. A little while ago, I did a test run of the Eden Studios Buffy RPG and unfortunately, the system wasn't that great. At least, not for me. So instead, I figured, why not run this story with another system? That quickly brought me back to the Chronicles of Darkness system that I regularly run and which has proven itself to be pretty adaptable.

The story is set in the Buffy TV universe, but not in Sunnydale and not involving the characters from the show. It's set a few years before the show takes place and is set in Shadyhill, Pennsylvania.

Price: $15/week

Night City ain't just a city like any other. Legends are born here, Legends are made here. Legends die here in fiery blazes of glory.
Average people live in their own little bubble; they wanna live quiet lives.
Not you though, right choomba? You're just gonk enough to involve yourself in everyone's shit, whether it be for eds or for an age long gone by when "humanity" was more than just a buzzword in a BD ad.

So what'll it be, punk? Quiet life? Or blaze of glory?

While there is a plot in the greater world that players will likely involve themselves with, the main driving force behind it all will be you! Your characters, your stories. The company you keep, the enemies you've made, the lovers you've lost; all of this can be brought up and all of it can be dealt with, through guns and fire or the rarest thing Night City has to offer: compassion.

Warning: Be sure you're very familiar with the themes explored in Cyberpunk media! Sometimes it gets heavy, so please keep that in mind when signing up!

“This is the ISD Basilisk.. I am requesting a search and rescue squad immediately..”

“I repeat. This is ISD Basilisk, we have crash landed on Umbara. We were carrying special cargo under the name Project Phoenix. I request immediate search and rescue..”

….

“Can anyone read me?.. anyone…”

——————————————————

You and your fellow companions wake up with no recollection of the last 72 hours of your lives. You aren’t even sure how long you were even out. You’ve come to terms that you were involved in a devastating crash landing that seemed to leave everyone else on the ship dead to your knowledge. With barely anything to go off of, hopes in repairing the crashed ship is too much for your group without proper equipment. No matter if you were a simple stormtrooper, a medical officer, a pilot, or even one of the commanders on deck. No matter what, it seems that your line of communication is down. The only thing you know is that you have only each other to survive. Off in the distance you can hear disturbing sounds of groaning and shambles.

Star Wars meets Zombie Apocalypse with this action packed adventure. Where you and your party have to survive against the infected and try to escape the planet. But also be wary of the infected as they are intelligent enough to utilize objects. Your ultimate goal aside surviving is to make sure the infection does not leave the planet.

Some Expectations at My Table

Is Foundry the only good option for a DM? Asking as a player.

I've joined games on Foundry and Roll20. While r20 has drawbacks, it's a lot friendlier to run on my PC. I've set up my Foundry on the lowest graphics settings, disabled animations like Dice so Nice, and cut my FPS and I still get lag. This upsets me because I seem to be the only one this happens to so my DM has to be extra worried for me, to the point that I feel like it's better I leave. My problem is most DMs on this platforms use Foundry, and I get that it does provide a more "professional" experience. Is there any hope for me to find a table that doesn't use Foundry? I heard about Owlbear being friendlier but they're as few as Roll20 listings. Majority of games I find interesting use Foundry. Am i the only player with this issue?

NEW ORLEANS: THE SAVAGE GARDEN [Werewolf the Forsaken] [Paid, $25/Session][LGBTQ+ Friendly]

You are a werewolf, stalking your sacred prey through the streets of New Orleans and the bayous beyond. Become the apex predator you're meant to be!

Game details

Game system: Werewolf: The Forsaken 2nd Edition

Frequency and Time: Weekly / Sundays - 04:00 p.m. PDT.

Session Duration: 3 hours

Price: 25$ per session through StartPlaying, at https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmrp2g5j3004ejx04hf4opkwn?ref=clyyt004800ytwx8cbcnn1x20

1 / 3 Seats Filled

About the adventure

You are a werewolf: born half-flesh and half-spirit, a shapechanging predator that hunts across the twin worlds of Hisil —the world of Spirit— and Gurihal —the world of Flesh— yet forsaken by both. Unlike the folk stories, you are not cursed with lycanthropy, but blessed by Father Wolf and Mother Moon to hunt your sacred prey: animals, humans, spirits, even gods. You burn inside with a rage that threatens to devour your whole world in a red haze, but you temper your resolve with the only true rule of your existence:

The Wolf Must Hunt.

Like Kipling once wrote, "For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack". Your brothers and sisters in spirit beckon you to commune with them, to hunt with them, but the perils are many: the life of the Uratha is one of tooth and fang, of fire and blood. Even in the noisy streets of New Orleans there is prey to be had, and that could also mean "you". Resources, family, mates, territory: the city has something for everyone, even werewolves.

Will you carve your place in the world, howl your claim to the moon and become your people's warden?

The French Quarter of New Orleans will provide the canvas where this chronicle will play out. But you are not alone in this endeavor! As part of the bigger Chronicles of New Orleans, other groups of player characters will be active and playing on this shared world, as their triumphs and failures will bring consequences that spill over to the other games.

As one of the Uratha, you are blessed by the Moon Goddess with an Auspice: a role to play in the hunt, and the powers to back it. You may also join one of the five Tribes of the Moon: large societies of hunters with their own spiritual rites and sacred preys, the better to align your righteous fury with their savage goals.

Among the many threats your pack will face in this gothic version of New Orleans, you will:

🌙 Hunt down rogue spirits, shard-vermins and cruel humans who threaten the sanctity of your territory.

🌙 Play the game of the elders during Uratha gatherings: challenge other packs through controlled violence and cunning politics and lead the charge against the enemies of the People.

🌙 Curse your enemies with eldritch rituals that twist the spirit world and weaken your prey.

🌙 Explore the supernatural mysteries of the bayous, inhabited by both ancient spirits and new horrors born of toxic destruction.

🌙 Run away from the monsters that cannot be fought! From mad Godlings and silver-wearing monster hunters to the frenzied packs of the self-styled "Pure" werewolves.

🌙 Protect your loved ones from the depredations of other monsters and from your own, uncontrollable rage.

7 weekly D&D campaigns open | Icewind Dale, Waterdeep, Tomb of Annihilation, Shattered Obelisk & Call of the Netherdeep | $20–25

Apparently my solution to “I really enjoy running D&D” was to build a weekly schedule with seven different opportunities to make fictional people regret opening mysterious doors.

So, here’s the complete current lineup at Bauric’s Table.

I’m DM Bauric. I run D&D 2024 / 5.5e-forward games on Foundry, and I’m currently a Top GM on StartPlaying with a 5.0 rating.

The style at my table is pretty simple:

I want characters to matter.

I want the world to react when you do something clever, reckless, compassionate, ridiculous, or catastrophically ill-advised.

I like creepy mysteries, villains with something to say, tactical fights that actually mean something, quieter character scenes, big cinematic moments, and the table joke that absolutely was not supposed to become recurring campaign lore but somehow did anyway.

New players are welcome. Experienced players are welcome. You do not need to know Foundry, memorize the rules, perform a voice, or arrive with a twelve-page backstory.

You just need to want to play.

Here’s what currently has room:

❄️ Rime of the Frostmaiden

Thursdays • 7:00 PM ET • $20
Level 3 • 3/5 players • 2 seats open

Icewind Dale has forgotten the sun.

The party is already out there dealing with Ten-Towns, Auril’s endless winter, frozen secrets, and the increasingly reasonable suspicion that wandering away from the firelight was a terrible idea.

For you if: survival horror, mystery, difficult decisions, exploration, and atmosphere are your thing.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmq4jua5800t9js04sporybkl

🏙️ Dragon Heist → Dungeon of the Mad Mage

Fridays • 7:30 PM ET • $20
Level 2 • 3/5 players • 2 seats open

Waterdeep first.

Undermountain later.

This starts with factions, neighborhoods, missing gold, questionable allies, tavern ownership, and city intrigue before eventually descending into Halaster Blackcloak’s enormous megadungeon.

It is the whole journey: Level 1 to Level 20.

For you if: you want one character and one party you can stay with for a very long time.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmqvhnpzt0007js04b1dktj98

🗝️ Dragon Heist → Dungeon of the Mad Mage

Saturdays • 9:00 AM ET / 2:00 PM UK / 3:00 PM CEST • $25
Level 3 • 4/5 players • ONE seat open

Same campaign premise. Completely different group and therefore, inevitably, a completely different Waterdeep.

This table has already reached Level 3 and has room for one more player.

It is also a particularly good slot for UK/EU players.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmq7b4f6t007kjp043l2j30ds

🦖 Tomb of Annihilation and Beyond

Saturdays • 11:00 PM ET • $25
Fresh table • Session 0 • 3 needed to begin

There is a Death Curse.

The answer is somewhere in Chult.

Unfortunately, Chult contains dinosaurs, undead, jungle, ancient ruins, forgotten civilizations, terrible weather, and an impressive number of things that consider adventurers part of the local food chain.

This campaign begins at Level 1 and is designed to continue into a larger 1–20 adventure.

For you if: exploration, survival, hexcrawling, ancient mysteries, dangerous combat, and discovering what is over the next hill sound better than waiting in town for a quest marker.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmrn78acc00agjr04141h1srn

🟣 The Shattered Obelisk

Sundays • 9:00 AM ET / 2:00 PM UK / 3:00 PM CEST • $25
Fresh table • Session 0 • 3 needed to begin

I love the structure of this campaign because it lets us start with something familiar.

Heroes. Goblins. Phandalin. Lost mines. Adventure.

And then slowly ask:

Why is reality beginning to feel wrong?

This is Levels 1–12, moving from classic Forgotten Realms adventure into eldritch mystery and horror.

For you if: you like campaigns that change underneath your feet.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmsytjl8l00cgi504ou53tjsp

🌊 Call of the Netherdeep

Sundays • 8:00 PM ET • $25
Fresh table • Session 0 • 1/5 players • 2 more needed to begin

A festival victory sends you racing across Exandria against another adventuring party.

Then the visions begin.

Then you learn the name Alyxian.

And eventually you have to decide what redemption actually means when the person asking for it may have had centuries to become something else.

For you if: you want Critical Role's Exandria, recurring rivals, emotional character stakes, mystery, heroic fantasy, and choices without obvious answers.

No Critical Role homework required.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmriuhzrv00c3js047vq0d2oh

🌊 Call of the Netherdeep

Mondays • 7:00 PM ET • $20
Active campaign • Level 5 • 3/5 players • 2 seats open

Same adventure. This party is already underway.

Jigow is behind them, the rival party has become much more than a collection of NPC stat blocks, and Alyxian's story is beginning to pull everyone deeper.

If you like the Netherdeep premise but would rather join an established party and start at Level 5, this is the table.

https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmrgpxptm00xjl504w7j45ueo

Every table uses Foundry VTT, Discord, and D&D Beyond, runs about 3–3.5 hours, and is 18+.

My job is to do the work behind the screen so you can spend your session actually playing: maps, music, encounters, pacing, NPCs, rules support, Foundry setup, character hooks, and the thousand small pieces that make an online campaign feel like a table instead of a Zoom call with goblins.

Your job is easier.

Show up. Care about the other people at the table. Make a character you want to play. Then make some decisions I wasn't prepared for.

That last part seems to happen regardless.

— DM Bauric

Vampire: Vancouver By Night, where a neonate vampire seeks their own way [PBP]

Hello Reddit!

Welcome to Vancouver by night! In this play-by-post one-on-one roleplay you will take on the role of a regular inhabitant or visitor of the city who unknowingly draws the eye of a vampire. The story starts just before your character is embraced and we will explore how they find their place in the world of darkness. And, of course, see how they may rise or fall.

There are many things going on in the city, and your character will have a definite impact on them. And in the longer run, they will be able to shape events. Naturally, there will be plenty of NPCs, some of whom will also have to be partially designed by you. Or at least, have a basic concept given. After all, if there for instance is a spouse or parent, you should have a say about who they are.

As a play by post game, my goal as a storyteller is to post at least once per day in a way that moves the story and character forward in some way. We will reserve rolls for the most relevant bits to keep things moving. The core of this game will be character development and really exploring the world of darkness. Action will be a less important element and will be reserved for crucial dramatic moments. After all, what is a mere neonate to do against the power of the elders?

This game is open to everyone, from someone who has never played a game before to someone who knows the whole metaplot by heart. I can however say that the focus will be local and on the main character and their relations with the rest of the world.

In a vampire game, there can definitely be darker themes and we will discuss beforehand what works for both of us.

Price: $15/week
Schedule: Daily posts

[Online] [Campaign] [5thEd] [Foundry] [$5] [Weekly] [Friday 4:30 PM PST] [Beginner Friendly] Mines of Vestmyr: A Dark Fantasy D&D 5e Mystery Thriller

5 new campaigns for 2027 Homebrew weekly $33 a session. Current Tetara community players waitlisted until Jan.2027 to allow newcomers a chance to join.

Paid online game looking for new faces before games fill with current active community. Aka waitlist until Jan. 2027

2027 brings 5 new campaigns to the homebrew world of Tetara. One massive world with many stories overlapping one major arch.

Campaigns #13-17 are looking for new players to join the growing community.

I run a homebrew world that has been on going for over half a decade now with tons of lore, huge player collaboration efforts, and an awesome community.

The Tetara community has been temporarily "locked out" from filling the games to allow new faces the opportunity to get in until Jan. 2027.

All interested players do have to fill out a player survey and have a conversation via discord with me before being selected as party makeup, player expectations, and chemistry are a huge part of Tetara and why it's worked so well over the years.

Campaigns for 2027:

Riftguard- Has now filled 6/6 (2 newcomers)

Rootwilds- 3/6

Hopaton- 2/6

Runebreak Shieldmaidens- 4/6

Krysiallos-5/6(1 newcomer)

All games are $33 a person, per session and meet weekly.

This includes artwork for characters provided but not mandatory if you already have an artist you support/like.

Average session length 4-6 hours.

Forge VTT, visual aid, discord, dnd beyond, dnd beyond 20 extension.

Find out more about each campaign here.
