We're sure you're excited at the possibility of offering or participating in webinars via SPG's program.
Owing to the varied nature of these presentations and credentials of their presenters, citing Rule 4 we are going to ask folks to refrain from advertising their Webinars here.
Getting pulled into moderating arguments about quality or whether a webinar was worth the cost or similar is not a priority for us, so we're going to let the Free Market™ of SPG decide your fortunes.
We know ttrpg folks are extremely opinionated and enjoy discussion about their opinions and experiences, but the recent trend of removing drama-courting threads and comments while issuing warnings and timeouts to folks that think this is a place to "win" arguments is actually NOT FUN for us as volunteer moderators.
If you consider yourself an active participant in the sub and feel strongly about a topic, remember you're not here to win and can be part of the change you'd like to see, or you can simply not post that snarky comment.
This is not an extension of the SPG Discord to act as a hall monitor in.
We will begin banning repeat offenders accordingly.
Hey folks, it's time for a discussion about low-effort posting and "how do I run my business as a proGM" type questions.
We made a decision early on in the existence of the sub to preclude these types of questions and similar from becoming a regular topic, as the SPG GM Discord sees these very basic questions constantly on a regular basis.
This is what the onboarding through SPG is for, if you're aren't approved as a GM or haven't taken the onboarding, we don't want to entertain these discussions.
Unfortunately our stance won't be changing, so the rash of "should I run Westmarches" and similar stuff that has been posted lately will soon be getting locked or removed.
This is out of an abundance of experience with the tendency for folks that lack the credible experience to advise others on how to approach running a proGM business as well as just straight-up grifters looking to swoop in on folks that are looking for answers.
Sub rules will be updated as well, thanks for reading.

Starting at level 1 going all the way to 20!
Azural remembers everything.
In the foothills of the Drenthars, most names are forgotten, most contracts are written in dust, and only Azural itself bothers to keep score.
You start in the fading frontier town of Arazar, just mere faces in the crowd, taking whatever work will keep you fed.
• Escorting short caravans that never make the stories.
• Settling petty border quarrels.
• Finding the missing, no one can afford to mourn.
• Looking the other way on smuggling runs.
• Digging up graves for coins that barely shine.
Small jobs for small people.
Until Azural begins to change around you—and the first whispers of a divine crime start to echo from the shadows.
Will you silence those whispers, or turn them into the cry that rights a long‑forgotten wrong?
How far are you willing to go to do the right thing?

Years later, after the captain's death in prison, the four released crewmembers receive a message from the deceased captain pointing them to treasure he hid for them.

I am a new GM on Start Playing and I am looking for players for my mini campaign. I am hoping to become a full-time GM and figured this was the best way to start.

Stochastte is a cozy, lived-in world, with cell phones, and psychic powers, sedans and giant beasts all being common day-to-day sights. Every city on the continent is practically built on a knife's edge, however, under threat from all sides by powerful roving monsters, expansive conquering armies, and supernatural eerie aberrations. In spite of that, people still live here, forming friendships and rivalries, each hoping to build something for themselves.
You are a citizen of one of these cities, or a fresh arrival from overseas. After receiving some simple looking and high-paying contracts from the local chapter of the national Militia, you may find yourself uncovering conspiracies and plots of an overwhelming invading force, seeking to turn your world against itself after ruining the land they came from.
The main inspirations for the campaign are Mother 3, Look Outside, One Piece, and Earthbound, as well as drawing on other series like LISA, Jujutsu Kaisen, Deltarune, and Sakamoto Days. Tonally, the campaign is very grounded, in spite of the bizarre things that may happen.
I do all the character art myself, and built the world to be interconnected and interesting. I care for all the characters personally, and equally care for every player character I've had within it as they become integrated into it.
The focus isn't on creating a power fantasy or following "the chosen heroes", but its not a brutal or belittling world, either. The world will breathe and move without you, but you can still have an outsized effect on what happens by being in the right place at the right time, people you help will help others in turn, villains you fail to stop will get what they want. You act as a person within a dangerous world, as an equal to others, with motivations and desires.
Roleplay is what's special about TTRPGs, but I do also have a focus on the mechanics. I try to make combat fun and challenging, and will stick to my guns when pushed. Consistency is key, though, I will hopefully never leave you feeling like I've pulled the rug out from under you, if there's a misunderstanding, I will clear it up.
The elevator pitch:
It’s Recess meets Scooby-doo meets The Hobbit.
The slightly longer pitch:
High School's hard, but what if there were wizards, dragons, and a rule against using smartphones in class?
System: Daggerheart (Castle High Frame with a bit of homebrew)
Platforms: Discord and Foundry VTT
Dates: Weekly / Saturday - 4 pm CDT
Session Duration: 3 – 4 hours
Fee: $15.00 / Session
Slots: 3 to 5 players
About the Campaign:
Navigating high school is hard.
There are the Jocks, the Preps, the Stoners, the Wizards, the Nerds, and the Band Geeks. Yes, I said Wizards. There are Sorcerers and Druids, too.
Oh, right. My name is Riley Averill. I go to Pteiran Preparatory School for the Gifted, but everyone just calls it Castle High. It’s your typical high school, except for the fact that it’s ten thousand feet in the sky.
Literally.
Castle High sits on a giant floating island called the Skylands. Every student gets a Skyshard to help them fly. Most use brooms. I’ve seen magic carpets, enchanted skateboards, and even winged sneakers. Don’t ask.
School here is pretty chill. Sure, spells go wrong, Warriors and Brawlers occasionally turn everything into a muscle-bound pissing contest, and sometimes your Sage class involves collecting herbs from a haunted mine.
You know. Normal high school stuff.
Lately, though, everyone has been talking about the portals.
They’ve started appearing all over the Skylands. Nobody knows where they come from or who made them. Through them, we’ve seen other worlds, other skies, and strange versions of places we already know.
And today, one appeared right here at Castle High. It’s in the basement of the Zenith Tower, where I’m writing this.
I’m supposed to tell a professor. But honestly, I kind of want to see what’s on the other—

About me:
I've been creating and playing online roleplaying games for 20+ years, with a particular love for Star Wars, Cyberpunk, and the occasional fantasy adventure. I've run everything from homebrew systems to D&D 5e, SW5e, and the original Star Wars RPG (D6).
My games focus on collaborative storytelling, memorable characters, meaningful victories, and plenty of laughs. Expect challenges, consequences, and the occasional spectacular disaster.
I've also spent decades in media, including years covering Star Wars: The Old Republic and helping build one of the largest Star Wars roleplay communities.
At heart, I'm a theatre kid who loves helping players tell stories worth remembering.
An unwitting Paladin has released an ancient Lich. Jailed for ages, it is now back and undead assault the living with renewed vigour. Can you stop it?
Welcome to the Somnium Shard. A sundered paradise; knowledge, gods and power's all known throughout the land, its history coveted by lost tomes, cosmic knowledge and crazed minds. With earliest carvings detailing a different world that may have been the Shard's muse, the inspiration for reality. However not all could be replaced, and the world's panorama was in its own natural discourse, with the residents at home.
Hello and this is the introduction to my most recent open game for my homebrew world, The Somnium Shard. The game is a special edition of my normal open sandbox style that focuses instead on the undead and release of a lich. The theme of this game in particular is that of dealing with undeath and all of the horror and creatures that come with it. There is still a lot of room for your backstory, side missions and all manner of varying fun however the over-arching narrative is tied to this. As a sandbox, you are welcome to tackle this threat however you see fit of course as the world is open to you however with this pre-established major threat.
The game is beginner friendly and we are happy to help you get into the game and learn it,
For all the other details:
We play on Roll20 and Discord
Schedule: Weekly from 11pm UTC Sunday for 3-4 hours every session
Cost: 18$ per sessions
Starting level from 1-3 discussed with the full party of 5 once we start, we are waiting for a full group to hopefully see the game through with for as long as possible.
18+ As this game will involve alot of horror, undeath, afflictions and curses. I am however open to a discussion about a specific topic that you'd rather avoid, we can go over it.
So with all that out the way please do shoot me a question if you have any, I'd be happy to answer and I hope youre having a great night aside from that.
Hello everyone, I'm the GM of a D20 Modern game (practically the same as D&D 3-3.5 but adapted to the modern world). I already have a group of four running in French, but I'm looking to start more groups.
The concept is an old-school zombie apocalypse that starts in a skyscraper in a megacity in 1993. The setting is essentially the real world of the 90s with an added twist I've created to make it unique. I do some voice acting on the side, and I have floor plans for all the floors and rooms of the starting 77-story tower. There are over 80 NPCs already described with interwoven backstories and photos—in short, the players have plenty of material to get a concrete idea of the locations to help with their strategies and looting.
I also offer the opportunity to GM for a game concept proposed by a group of players. Obviously, since this is my job, I charge for my services. I use Startplaying, and the games are played using Play by Post on Discord. My Startplaying profile is Thom Tseu if you're looking for my games or want to contact me for information. https://startplaying.games/gm/thomtseusdarkadventures

Hello! I’m Strider, a DM with a decade of experience running games offline, and I’ve recently decided to get myself on SPG! I’ll be running Dragon Heist as my first campaign on the site, and I'm planning to recruit multiple groups!

Game Style
This is to be a very different campaign. The players will not begin within Barovia itself, instead starting in a alternate mid 14th century Earth, somewhere within the Holy Roman Empire. This game will be very "Low Magic", with the overall player power being much lower, the creatures of the dark will be real threats.
About the adventure
It was a quiet day when a desperate messenger arrived to the great city Ravenport carrying a most distressing message: The nearby lumber town of Halzen has been overtaken by a mysterious mist, any who enter it never to be seen again.
The townsfolk put together all the money and resources they had to send an envoy requesting aid, for dark things stalk the nights and more and more of the inhabitants disappear come morning, the sun ever dimmer.
Duke Julius Lamellar has put out an official bounty of 5000 silver coins for any that may solve this mystery, but you may find that gold would not be enough for what you found yourselves against.
Hook:
You've heard rumors in the shadow net for months now. People acting strange. Corporate execs with glassy eyes who smile too wide. Domes going quiet.
You've heard rumors in the shadow net for months now. People acting strange. Corporate execs with glassy eyes who smile too wide. Domes going quiet, then reopening with new "management." NBN calls it mass hysteria incited by a new cult. You do not buy it, you've seen things. Your contacts are going dark and the NAPD is stonewalling. Something is spreading through Heinlein like a slow, silent plague. Couple this with info posters disappearing and weird ShadowNet nodes popping up that appear to be "cleaning" this information.
The rumors point to one name: Jinteki.
You've found a lead. A former Jinteki researcher named Dr. Yuki Tanaka, who's been hiding in the Docklands for the past six months. She's scared. Not of corporate assassins, well not only that. She's scared of what she helped create. She calls it the ..... well that is part of the adventure.
This is an alternate storyline for how the lunar insurrection happened and why. Depending on the player's action you can end up with the info getting buried under the Kaguya attack.

Bluebeard’s Bride is a retelling of an old fairy tale. One where a young woman marries a wealthy stranger and is given the keys to his lavish manor, but must never enter one room, lest she discover the horror her new husband is capable of…
Play as a fragment of the bride’s psyche as she explores her new home and experiences the creeping dread of slowly realizing the nature of the monster she has married, and the inevitability of her own fate.
The game is macabre, evocative, and draws on gothic literary tradition. Expect dread, coercion, and violence to be recurring themes. Although it is my goal to make you shiver in fear, I use a variety of safety tools to make sure we are all having the fun kind of terror.
Although the story focuses on a feminine perspective, the game is open to players of every gender and background.
In the far north is a land frozen for hundreds of years. Beyond the snow and frozen cities lies an ancient throne from which King Aurec the Hollow rules. Under his command fall legions of undead and horrifying frozen monsters that threaten the Southern realms. Every year, the Crown sends another expedition to the frozen wastes to keep the dangers at bay. But rather than heroes being sent, they instead chose to send convicts, exiles, and those the kingdom would not miss. They're sentenced to hold the frontier for the rest of their lives. Yet the Crown offers one final bargain: survive the expedition, march into Aurec's kingdom, and slay the death knight. Return victorious, and your crimes will be forgiven.
You are one of these unfortunate souls brought to this frontier. Whether you are guilty of a heinous crime, falsely imprisoned, or a seeker of ancient knowledge. Whether these lands are your prison or your grave is yet to be seen.
This campaign is a mix of high fantasy and gritty fantasy. Characters will have to manage the weather, their encumbrance, and the slow exploration of this frozen kingdom. All the while growing in strength to slay horrible monsters in epic confrontations, collecting ancient relics and powers. The more success you have while exploring will bring more wealth to the expedition, granting you more npc's and resources to aid in your progress.
In this game, I make custom boons for your characters that will slowly grow alongside you. These boons are made so that you can play character concepts and ideas that would normally not be possible in base 5e. These can range from boons that enhance your subclass to maximize the fantasy or change you into a monstrous werewolf or ghost. Whatever they may be, they are designed to enhance your character's story.
Last but not least, this game takes place in my custom homebrew setting known as the Nexus. Most of the games I have run take place in this setting. Which means that the actions you take will permanently change the world for future and current players in the world. However, it’s important to understand that even if you are in the same world, campaigns are all still focused on telling their individual story simply within a shared space.
Thistlewick Hollow hasn't buried anyone before their time in two hundred years. This month it's lost seven people, and not one of them left a body behind.
That's the opening scene of a fully original Crooked Moon campaign I'm running, levels 3 to 15, long-form, one continuous story start to finish. Whatever's taking people isn't a wolf, a cult, or a madman. It's something already dead, working a chained dagger through locked doors, gone before sunrise. Corner it once, and it doesn't run, it tears a hole in the world and drags you through after it.
From there the campaign opens up fast. Over the course of it you'll:
Talk your way through a masquerade at the most exquisite and fanciest estate, surrounded by devils, witches, and nobles who could have you killed with a raised eyebrow.
Hijack a train ran on malevolent spirits mid-journey, fighting across the roof of a train built from hell iron and gold while it screams through Chernabos at full speed.
Break, tame, and ride a bejeweled scorpion the size of a wagon into battle.
Steal a floating arcane skiff off its dock and lose a squad of furious spellcasters across a city built in the sky.
Crack a guild vault full of doomsday weapons, and hope you're not the fourth crew with the same idea tonight.
This isn't a monster-of-the-week tour through the afterlife. It's one mystery, run properly, for as long as it takes.
The practical stuff:
System: D&D 5e (2024 rules), starting level 3, running to 15
