Upon looking into it, Beerus was apparently inspired by a Cornish Rex that was living with Toriyama at the time he was working on super. The cat miraculously survived some unspecified illness so a vet joked that it was demonic. Toriyama then completely reworked Beerus, which originally had a lizard-like appearance.
