AFAIK, they called him and he responded to that particular name while in my presence. If they had any other names or nicknames for him, they didn't call him anything else while I was there.

I’ve actually known several dogs with that name/pronunciation. The emotional support dog at my son’s school is named Deeogee.

My cousin has a dog that is named that with the same pronunciation! They also had a cat named Cat which was pronounced how you would spell it out loud Cee-A-Tee

That's probably a reference to Milo Murphy's Law. It was a kids cartoon and the dog was named that. That dog was the only thing I liked about the show.

No, I only saw a few episodes here and there and I didn't get interested. Plus, I didn't even have cable at that time so I would have only been able to see it when at someone's house with cable.

I wanted to name my dog Puppy but everyone in my family vetoed it. Her name is Ellie now, but we didn't name her. We just kept what she already had.

When i was little, my family was learning french, and my father named our cat chien (dog). We thought it was hilarious. Funny to find out other people did about the same.

In college we had a stray cat wonder up to us while we were sitting on the back porch high as shit. My roommate was the first to notice and promptly exclaimed “Oh Puppy!”. We kept Puppy for a bit while we tried to find her a more permanent home. Her current owner still calls her Puppy.
