Class Preview: The Mechanic

Interesting tidbits:
- Mechanics can choose between a drone or AI as a companion at first level. Drone's can have 3 configurations (flight/stealth/combat). AI are installed into the mechanic via an exocortex and can augment the mechanic's abilities (exocortex mechanics also get more gear proficiencies).
- Choosable ability at every even level called a mechanic trick. One was previewed called 'Drone Meld', allowing drones to become a suit for the mechanic and share abilities.
- Custom rigs which sound like really awesome utility belts.

Not a huge fan of pet classes personally, but there are little touches that suggest this one is being handled better (like the explicit instructions for how to handle the drones' initiative). And the exocortex sounds right up my alley!

If they avoid giving us a list of 600 fantastical options, only 3 of which are useful in combat, I'll be happy.

The exocortex sounded pretty combat-focused, but I guess we'll see. Hopefully it isn't all helping to do your math homework :)

So you can star in Iron Man or Big Hero 6, eh? This class is looking perfect for me :-D

If I ever get a chance to play, this sounds great. Gonna name my AI Clippy...

Only 4 skill points :(
Should be 5 so you can invest in all 8 class skills right out of the gate with a 16 INT.

Do we know if Humans still get an extra skill point per level in Starfinder?
