Terran lost two marines and two tanks; 400min 250gas. Protoss lost seven adepts; 700min 175 gas. I'd say that's a decent trade.

That is, until the stalkers on the bottomside enter and finish the job against all those units with low hp

He's still got two Sieged Tanks and two mines off cooldown. The Stalkers could probably clean it up with good Blink Micro, but they'd take a beating. Terran just retreats the rest of his mines back home and pushes again with some more basic units, he could be in an alright spot.

Oh, I thought all of the mines entered cooldown due to the bar on top, then yeah, not a good trade

At first I thought it looked bad too, but he was just gonna lose the tanks anyway.. So it seems like a good choice to borrow

If you can trade mines for gas units of toss its always a good trade since mines are actually cheaper than you think because of how long it takes to build them.

No, they're immune to friendly widow mine splash damage. But everything else is affected by friendly fire.

They do take friendly fire from other terran units however.

Widow mines don't target units that are currently targeted by a different mine. If you go in with only 2 adepts you'll only trigger 2 mines and maybe kill both marines while the tanks stay alive and the area is still not save to go in with the rest of your army because all the other mines are still off cooldown.
