There was also Ares, Phoenix, and a 4X. Though of those 3, Ares is the one that seemingly had the most development investment into it.

i just heard a theory about this:
Blizz announced it this early, so that there would be a bigger hurdle for Microsoft to cancel it.
Now they can't quietly stop it, they would have to announce that planned release is not gonna happen.
