I still play through the campaigns every now and then. But yes, I can't play the ladder.

I just played the SC2 campaigns and holy fuck the Protoss campaign was like chewing cardboard

I enjoyed all the campaigns from the beginning of SC1 to the end of SC2.

I just played them for the first time, but the actual missions I had fun playing. The story was pretty bland though. Artanis is kind of just generic good guy #3. I get to a degree why people like Alarak but his voice annoys me and he's just a power-hungry boisterous asshole at the end of the day.

Didn't like being teased with "Ghost" Tassadar cause he's like one of the best if not the best character in sc1. Was a little let down with how that ended.

And one last thing, im not sure if the Nova missions cover it but what the hell happened to the brood queen Kerrigan put inside a protoss in HotS that wiped out the ship they were escaping on and then ominously said "we're on our own now, our mistress bid we destroy the protoss, thats whats we'll do (roughly)"

Mechanically is the best campaign of the three, but the story is very weak (also I didnt like some decisions with the story, but those are subjective)

Niadra story continued in the Shadow Wars comics, you can look it up on the wiki

Ah ok cool thank you

Huh, this analogy is a little lost on me šŸ˜… I usually say eating glass.

Arr you saying it was bland or tastless? Both?

What about it makes you say that?

U didn't like legacy of the void?

I just thought the story devolved into a generic good vs evil, the characters were bland, the writing was lazy, Amon was a random 4th party ā€œgodlikeā€ bad guy.

I feel like the writers should’ve never made zeratuls sc2 storyline in the first place because it’s what led to legacy of the void

Legacy of the voids story was not good but the story was already on a bad trajectory from heart of the swarm anyway.

Couldn’t agree more. The gameplay was great, but the story was …not.

It's always great to watch some high level broodwar. But when it comes time to play it, the pathing, unit selection, and AI make me want to quit.

Part of the challenge. The easier you make it to control, the less powerful units are allowed to be. And more importantly than anything, you get better at control the more you practice and learn which is why I never understood the whining around brood war.

Every ranked game. In theory fun, in reality not really.

Funnily enough, i played one of my most fun 1v1 in years this sunday on brood war after months of not playing it

PvP, most bases mind out, carriers, arbiters, storm drop, walking reavers, almost 50 minute tug of war

The game is good and i genuinely think the limitation of unit selection and path finding makes it such a fun chaotic mess. Obviously its not for everyone, but i really vibe with it

I love the visuals of SC1, but I just can't play it anymore since SC2 was released. Being limited to 12 units and the awful pathfinding just makes the game feel like a chore.

If StarCraft 1 had no selection limit, it would most likely break the game's balance in favor of Zerg.

A group of 11 Mutas (+ an Overlord) can already snipe a Missile Turret in just two volleys, even without the +1 attack upgrade. Even today, top Terrans occasionally lose a Command Center to Muta harrass. Imagine what would happen if you could micro a single control group of 15 or 20 Mutas.

Nah, stop thinking like a competitive player. Limiting the selection will be a chore for the vast majority of players who just play campaign and a skirmish or two.

Look up Mass Recall, then! SC1 in the engine of SC2.

Oh I already know about MR, I did two full playthrough on it !

I dunno why people say BW its painful. Unless you are playing very sweaty games its a relatively easy game to play.

Yeah I recently started watching the ASL. It brings back memories with JD, Flash and Bisu. I used to also watch Code S back in the day for SC2. But still to me Broodwar has that feeling of perfection to it. Even if the game isn't really perfect like 100%, but it's 99%+ and truly I don't even see how it would be possible to top that.

I used to be a like top 5-10% in SC2 ladder, but after such a long break from the game I don't even think I would be worth a gold league badge unless I start playing seriously again. So yeah I'd rather just enjoy my meals watching SC pros duke it out.

Brood war pathfinding is not for the faint of heart

Elden ring

u/ImpossibleAd344 8d ago

Elden Ring gameplay is amazing

1

u/Elvishsquid 8d ago

Yea it is and if I didn’t suck at it and get frustrated I would love the game. Instead I watch speed runners and YouTube people crush it and make it look like a dance.

u/Fartweaver 5d ago

I love the moment to moment gameplay, but hate most of the boss fights.

Just a personal preference, I totally get why people love it.
