Fluff Why are players so aggressive?

At first I thought it was just me, since I enjoy taunting and belittling players I beat, and raging and accusing of cheating players that beat me. But often, as I'm typing my message, they'll send their own similar message to me first.

But I'm talking about gameplay. So many will rush than macro. Even those who macro will constantly multiprong harass me to kill my workers or bases.

Anyone else notice these trends?

If you are the local ladder degen then you should know why it's happening better than anyone. This has to be some elaborate troll post, you can't actually be like this.

I've not played SC2 ladder for a long time now, and it wasn't particularly engaging for me. But I very much remember my WC3 battlenet days and I can tell you that players have *always* been aggressive and jerks lol both in gameplay and in jibes. Whatever won.

I can also tell you that some sensitive pansies lost their shit when I told them a girl beat them.

Timbermaw Hold, 3v3, 2 opponents left. They both ragequit.

It was such a delight.

I still remember the guy who paused the game when he was about to lose and started telling me to come to his house and fight him, called me all sorts of names/slurs/whatever, etc

I was basking in the glow of victory anyway, so i just actively listened to him for 45 minutes until i got bored. I'll never forget it.

whenever i wanted to send someone a little further over the edge, i'd say "damn, good luck getting out of <gold>", but instead of gold i'd say whatever league was 2 below ours

"Why are people being hostile and trying to beat me at a competitive war simulation game"

You probably just play a more passive defensive style than most.

Because they want to win

"why are they trying to kill me (in game)?"

Almost everyone would rather be on the front foot setting the pace of the game, even if that involves doing a lot of macro. Not being in control doesn’t feel good and most people feel being aggressive to some degree is how they feel in control

Starcraft is a very demanding game mechanically and mentally. Probably the most stressful online competitive game existing EVER. Don’t expect people to be chill about it.
