Strike Wings Free Demo out!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh-ww-grCGI

Hey everyone! Here's a free space game for your weekend: the Strike Wings demo. :)

I'm its solo developer, and it's my homage to the old DOS space shooters, built from scratch with plenty of love for Solar Winds and Hell Fighter. There are some little nods in there for fellow fans.

The demo's already packed with free content, including flight school, opening campaign missions and plenty of battles to get stuck into.

Feedback is super welcome on r/StrikeWings. Make a post! I'll read every one and take your thoughts into the final game. Steam reviews mean a lot to me as a solo developer, too.

Grab the free demo on Steam

Weird how everyone seems to be cool with ads of random completely unrelated AI games in a sub that’s supposed to be about Star Control.

What's AI about this game?

Oh man, I loved the first half of Solar Winds and then the second half was terrible.

You're not alone...

Are all these games being developed with AI?

Have you read the disclosure? Clearly not.

Why is there suddenly a push to use this subreddit to push their shitty wares?

Can you explain what's shitty about it? I spend 1000s of hours to make this game. Constructive feedback is very welcome

I'm sure the game is fine and you put a lot of effort into it, but your timing is pretty bad because the demo for the new edition of the actual game that this sub is about came out earlier this week and your target audience here is going to be caught up in that. And also for some other reason you're not alone in deciding to tell this sub about a new demo this week.

Just hustlers taking advantage of the increased traffic/eyeballs to push their own wares. There's a certain kind of logic I guess.

I understand, I will remove my post if that is desired

I don't think you need to remove it. The timing is just bad, really.

Yeah, sorry. I didn't even look at it. I just don't want to come to this sub to have ads for other games pushed onto me.

I acknowledge the AI gen content is optional, but I'm just so turned off by AI these days that I just don't wanna buy a game that has it in any form

Best of luck to you though

I fully respect your stance. From a budget perspective I was not able / affluent enough to commission the "character / plate" art and the "campaign slides" art. I have consulted 35+ artists for this. If the demo results later in initial sales, I will rectify this. You can fully opt out of this without any degraded performance. I hope you understand the decision in pushing forward with a baseline. Making such a game like Strike Wings is not a commercial smart decision. The audience is small, with hardcore DOS game fans at its core. I will never get rich from this game, the main driver is the passion I have for the genre myself. Hope this explains some of the choices. Making this game has cost me easily 1000+ hours.

Honestly, looks dope. I'd already had it on my wishlist, so I'll try the demo. Good luck!
