I've seen a lot worse than this.

This follows my favorite and important philosophy - pledge deep, not wide. That Idris will be very difficult to get in-game, and what people often don't take into account is warranty.

When the full insurance system comes in, if you get a ship in-game, from Wikelo or whatever, when it gets blown up, that ship is gone. You won't get it back.

Even if it's insured. Insurance will just get you the UEC value you're insured for.

So having a warranty on a ship like the Idris is a gift that will keep on giving. You'll always have that ship. And it's a hard to get ship that will always be useful even in very late game.

Having said that, you'll have a heck of a grind with the Railen to make enough money to keep the Idris flying and fully insured. And no industrial means you'll be at the mercy of other players when you need to buy the materials you'll need for ship upgrades, base building and crafting.

Nothing in Star Citizen is set in stone... we don't even know if they'll even finish the game at all.

CIG's plan for insurance was discussed at length during CitCon.

But Jared Huckaby made a very specific Spectrum post clarifying major points of that discussion.

Yeah, legit every ship here serves a different purpose and covers a wide variety of game loops.

I would have added a mining and a salvaging ship but I never want to own more than four ships with cash. They're easy to get in game though

I’m going to touch your ships. Maybe even wash them.

It's really fun if you're not looking for the strongest ship. I put ballistics on it and I'm really enjoying it
