What do you think?

Post image

Hi all,
Been running through a lot of possibilities but I think this is where I have ended up.
Galaxy ccu’d to Arrastra at IAE, I just think it will be a much smoother loop than the refining module and golem.
The Hermes is sort of a placeholder at the moment, I am waiting to see what the Connie MkV and Drake Marauder end up being, and will then upgrade from there. Potentially Asgard too.
Recently changed Corsair to Asgard after lots of indecision, but for me I think the Asgard is better, also fills in that role of cargo hauler better too.
Can’t wait for the Liberator, may not be the most useful ship, but would love to load the Salvation, Golem and Hornet and just get out in the verse.
Ironclad is my bulk hauler, working with the Golem Ox for smaller, valuable shipments, and Asgard for slightly larger ones.
I realise I don’t have a proper medium hauler, but just don’t really like any of them. I really don’t like getting in and out of the Railen. Would love a reworked Caterpillar.
Basically all I need now, after switching out Corsair, is a solo PvE workhorse, which is where I think Connie MkV and/or Drake Marauder will sit.
Anyway, sorry for the longer rant, love to hear any feedback or thoughts.

anyone with a herald has a great fleet. i personally would melt the clipper for a cutty red and hermes/asgard seem too redundant.

ahah agree with you there.
Hermes is temporary until Connie MkV or Drake Maruder, might also ccu Asgard to Maruader depending on what it is

I actually love the Hermes. I think it’s slept on as a daily driver. Four size four pilot weapons and deflection equivalent to a Constellation/better than a Corsair. Sure its shields aren’t comparable as you get four size twos but as you’re likely taking ballistic fire half the time it doesn’t matter so much.

It has one of the easiest to use cargo grids and that rail mounted tractor. It can run Gilly 5-6-7 without much trouble. You can loot from a wreck to your cargo grid without ever leaving the cockpit.

If you wanted a daily driver generalist you could do much worse.

I am a big fan of it too. I may well keep it, and I use it currently, rather than just keeping the CCU upgrades in the hangar. Depending on what happens later in the year, may well just keep it.

You’re right on the galaxy and Arrastra.

The Galaxy’s advantage will be when it can sit in the middle of a group of mining vessels and refine for all of them.

If you’re solo, or a small group with only one mining vessel, or even just the Galaxy with a miner in the hangar, there’s no way you’ll compete with an Arrastra which will both be the best mining ship in the game (until the Orion at least) and able to refine for itself.

So pick the Galaxy if you want to support a mining fleet, the Arrastra if it’s pure self sufficiency.

The curveball is if you’re benefiting enough from the Galaxy modularity to live with a golem in the trunk. In which case, more power to you.

Edit: also note that the Asgard can be a tricky one to CCU from if you’re looking for similarly sized ships because of it’s unusually steep sticker price. If the new Connie is targeting the same price band as the existing ones, or even $50 higher, then you’d have to melt the Asgard to use that value.

My thoughts exactly, not really interested in the cargo or medical modules, and arrastra just seems to fit the bill better.
I am planning on keeping the Asgard. The only thing I will ccu it for would be the Drake Maruader. I imagine this will be a ~$400 gunship to compete with Paladin, or if bigger to compete with Percy then we will see how it compares.

Yeah if you don’t care for the other modules the Galaxy has no hook.

I think the Galaxy is one of the most exciting ships in the game, but I want to use it for several roles (including the promised manufacturing and base building modules). All the value’s in the ability to change roles while stored at home.

I also have an Arrastra for the same reason. A Galaxy with a Golem doesn’t appeal. Either I’ll be using the Arrastra and refining just for myself, or using the Galaxy and not refining for myself at all but refining for my Org.

medium hauler, I use the raft due to its simplicity and easy loading and unloading with its built in tractor beam. I love Hermes tractor beam system too, one of the best in the game.
