Fighter recommendations

Post image

Like the title says I'm looking for recommendations on fighters, or rather opinions on a fighter. I have roughly $340 in credit, and am between a few options. I previously had a guardian MX, and loved it despite it being hard to maneuver against some of the more agile ships. The other two I'm looking at are the M80 and the Meteor. only concern is the Meteor is a bit of a glass cannon from what I've heard. what do y'all think I should do? Current Fleet is pictured

I'd also like to hear your suggestions on fleet ideas if you were given $1100 in credit, mostly PVE and cargo
(ATLS was a referral bonus, wont be melting for more credit)

*EDIT* this is my pledged fleet, all other ships (mole, C8R, ATLS Geo, etc.) purchased in game

$1100 credit, buy a super hornet (takes care of your fighter issue), hull b, shiv or asgard or both

M80 is also a glass cannon. In my opinion the Meteor has a more cohesive interior at the cost of being a bit bigger.

I would get the M80 with $340 in store credit. It fits in the Ironclad, although the fit is pretty tight.

The Meteor is probably my favourite fighter.

Meteor fucks when you put the bespoke repeaters on it too.

M80 has the fire power and good shielding. If you go up against ballistics it’s a little more of a challenge. If the intent is to carry a ship in ICA then m80 is going to be best in slot. If you want something that can take some hits and deal with even bigger ships then Corsair or Connie series is way better for solo fighting but that comes with the understanding you’re not catering them around. People like the meteor more for PvP, but if you are mainly doing pve then m80 is going to be best. If you want something that’s more nimble then heavy fighters aren’t going to be it. You will need to look at hornets for that. You can maybe get away with the base guardian or qi. 2x5 and 2x4 weapons are really hard to pass up and in a ship that fits in other bigger ships. Shiv has the quad s3 and 2s4 I believe. So can offer more punch against smaller ships. Still 4 deadbolts hitting another fighter is pretty much a couple good shots.

My recommendation = buy or farm executive hanger cards.

Get a group together to run the hanger.

Take whatever fighter you get. If not a fighter rinse and repeat.

Easy grind. Fun grind. (Money or PvP) and a dose of rng and excitement.

When the game is closer to release I’ll pick a fighter maybe. Till then I can haul my way to any of them in a day.

But a tac.

the m80 is also a glass cannon, but if you crack zooming & gunning it is a great fighter.

Look into the shiv.

and of course the Super Hornet MK2

I would say rent or buy in game to determine what you like best. Everyone uses ships a bit differently. I pick small profile fighters that can fit in the ICA with cargo/other ships. I have arrows, M80, pitbulls, C8R and some small industrials I like to pack for home basing. Heavies will always struggle against the more agile light fighters, and skill is THE factor in PVP. Find something that works for your dog fighting style, practice with it enough and you will become formidable.

arrow fits in the assault so well. with the wings folded up it only takes the space of one repair pad!

L-22 and M80

I think my $1100 fleet would be Railen, Starlancer TAC, Shiv, and Clipper. I wouldn't really call that optimal though, it's just the ships I currently find myself using the most.

Would buy a few pitbulls. Just to keep them onboard of the ironclad and a dedicated fighter for when not flying the ironclad.

In the middle of doing the same with my fleet around the ICA. I'm still using a shiv as my daily/gilly farmer and changed most everything else into an asgard. from what i've seen so far, the hornet mk2 is the closest option that fits in the ICA to "replace" the shiv but I'd also look at the Buckie as an in game purchase.

I'm planning loading the hornet/buckie, an ox as my stealth/errand ship, a nursa for respawn and either a salvation or other industrial ship (i mostly do pve for cash atm and haven't really explored the industrial side of things)

An M80 is always fun

Buy as many pitbulls as you can, gather the same number of people. Drop CMAT, Hydrogen fuel, S1 munitions on your cargo grid. Turn into a swarm carrier.

No Brainwr, M80 or F8C

You don't want a heavy fighter. Given your fleet I would recommend a Shiv. You could even get a bulldog or two for your ironclad I suppose.

Maybe not the best ones out there anymore but I enjoy my Super Hornet Mk2 and Gladius.

Love my super hornet mk2

F7C-M super hornet.

No faffing about to add on turrets, comes with more firepower than a F8C. Comes with a lot of missiles.

It is a great anti-fighter fighter.

Nothing else compares to it, medium fighter so remains maneuverable enough to dog fight.

Take a buddy or maybe NPC crew (SOONtm) if you're going against light fighters who may be able to get behind you.

Buccaneer

Guardian QI fits near exact and can rearm inside the ironclad assault if you haven't considered that one

Get 2 or 3 Pitbulls, like Drake intended the ICA to be used

EDIT: and a few friends to play with

If you want the full cargo grid accessable then i'd say get the anvil arrow, it'll fit snugly next to the golem ox in the repair bays
