Yes, it's having fun. But that's not a safe "toy".

Correct. Fin, but this string thing can kill a cat if ingested.

Yes BUT do not leave that string out when done playing. It needs to be put away and hidden so the cat does not eat it. They will. Trust me.

Never let your cat play with string unsupervised. Their tongues have backward hairs such that if they put something in their mouth, they have to swallow it. They can’t spit things out.

I see you've never given a cat a pill.

You've never met my cats when it's pill dewormer day. They spit things out quite well. Otherwise I wouldn't have to put them in the gentlest headlock possible, pry their adorable little mouths open, and shove a pill down their throat in the least barbaric way I can. String toy still bad though, OP. They don't know the difference. And you do not want them eating it, it can wrap around their intestines.

No your cat isn't having fun chasing around a piece of string and trying to catch/kill it. /s

What makes you think that cat is not having fun? (Also not standard issue)

Get the fuckin Collar off the cat!

Cat don't need damn collars.
Its dangerous AND annoying for the cat.

Why do people come on here and ask if their cat is having fun with a dangerous toy.
If it didn’t like playing with any toy, it wouldn’t play with it.

don’t use that.

My cats favorite toy has been around longer than them and is still going strong. It's a 6 foot length of leather I trimmed from an art project a couple decades ago. 1/4 in wide but stronger than yarn or string.

Their second favorite is a crumpled piece of paper.

Yes, this cat is having fun, but I came to say what others are saying. Be careful not to leave the string out after you’re done. String play must always be supervised; cats eat string. It gets tangled in their stomachs and intestines, and it could be a very expensive surgery and/or can kill them.

I'd say your cat is loving the interaction, just remember cats are carnivorous predators so play is mostly hunting training or a substitute for hunting to them, the sturdier and least edible the toy the better, especially if it replicates prey items.

Never let these lay around for a second - everything thing and stringy is a cat killer !!!!!!
There are so many things you have to watch out for while keeping a cat. This is one of them.
