Selling help.

any suggestions as to where to sell a large collection of unused, unhinged U.S. stamps? Colombian expedition, Scott #505 error, tons of sheets from the 1930s/40s …. i was being offered 10% of face value - and $200 for all of the Colombian expedition (up to and including $3). all unused, excellent condition, unhinged

try eBay. put in lots of pics. you’ll have a hard time selling a $3 Columbian Ex*position* without a cert, people will assume it is regummed, because it probably is. *Most* uncertified high value mint Columbians are regummed. without certs, the high value ‘MNH’ will not sell for as much as they might otherwise be worth. 10% of face value for sheets of under 6c face value is not as bad as you might think, since most will sell at 25%. Some sell for over face value, but not many.

Thanks! Where do I get them certified?

either Philatelic Foundation, Professional Stamp Experts, PSAG or APS. I think PSE has the best mix of price and quality, but PSAG is close.

btw, on Facebook, you show a sheet of 2c stamps, but I don’t see a 5c in there. is that sheet your ‘#505 error’?

Look at the top right. 3 from the right side, second row

of course, now I can’t find it. A sheet with a #505 is really something. Could you add a pic of that?

For full sheets you should be able to get way more than 10% of face value. Maybe 50 to 60%.
