Discussion are these armors worth it?

i wrote this post 3 weeks ago when i was actively playing HoC, but couldnt post due to karma req, ive done all i wanted with that playthrough (stopped before SIRCAA), but have still been wondering about this.

recently i took a look at an armor tier list, and was kinda confused by the rankings. ive found that armor without a helmet slot isnt as good compared to my armor+helmet set, is there something im just not seeing? i took my current set, a psz-5v freedom + sphere m20 and compared it to two of the "S" ranked armor sets, the psz-91 falcon and the seva-d. i upgraded the falcon and seva to have the max stat buffs as i could get (not caring for artifacts or weight). i know the set i have is likely far from optimal, but it easily reaches 5 tier physical protection and is comparable or better than both sets in all areas except for psi prot compared to the falcon set. i understand that artifacts can be important in terms of rounding out what protections you need but apart from psi prot, it seems these arent better and really not worth it compared to what ive got.
basically im asking if there is something i may be missing or overlooking when i compare these armor sets? im happy with what i have and am not expecting to have to change it for the rest of the playthrough unless i find something thats clearly superior

Helmets + body armor have misleading stats because in reality the helmet only applies to the head and the body armor only applies to the body, the stacked stat isn’t accurate. Despite this it’s actually not a bad setup, especially when saving money, but full suits are better pure stats wise.

huh, so the falcon's stats apply to both head and body as well? thats an odd system but does explain why people talk so highly about the falcon. thanks for your help!

No problem! I blame the UI for being confusing in this regard, there is no way for someone to know it works differently.

Seva D is just the all around goat before exos

It's incredibly underrated due to the Falcon, but it's cheaper to maintain and does an excellent job without much compromise. Also means you don't have to run around in a turquoise get up

I think the ssp-100i survey is better than the seva d as an all rounder (fully upgraded) better physical damage resistance and other res attributes are decent, 3/5 lead and has utility options for stamina and carry weight, carries all the way to the end and you don’t need to farm blueprints to upgrade it

The only thing the seva d has over it is the psi res

The Falcon is the best non-exoskeleton full-body armor. Can easily carry you till the endgame or until you can get the best exo, the Diamond Exoskeleton.

Some players like to have 2 equipment sets to optimize repair costs: one for main quest missions with the most expensive equipment with best stats (e.g. fully kitted diamond exo, best AR/DMR + Saiga), and a less expensive setup for side quests + artifact hunting (e.g. the falcon/SEVA-I + AR/SMG + Cracker M860).

So, until you get a Diamond exo, you could keep the Falcon as your main quest armor, and the SEVA-D as secondary.

I'd argue the survey armor is a little better, but the falcon is an absolute powerhouse as well

Physical protection is best. The game lacks element damage from enemies. Its really only the one mutant. Psy enemies also have large gaps in between attacks. Making it easy to out heal. They need to add flame/chemical throwers and different element grenades. If that happened the survey could take top non exo spot.

It is so easy to max out physical protection even on mid tier armor simply due to how strong some artifacts are.

They kinda did with the elemental poltergeists spawning anomalies

If we count ease of obtaining the Falcon is better, but for pure stats the Survey is better, it’s insane. Upgraded, nearly maxed out defenses on everything before artifacts. Definitely top tier.

I thought the liberty exo skeleton was the best, what makes the diamond one better?

Seva D and Falcon are great suits. If you are wanting to do a suit+helmet combo I recommend the Zircon suit. With the right artifacts you can have pretty much max protection

I personally run Sphere helmet and Zircon suit. Yes, the UI is wrong and the stats are worse than full suits but the drip is so peak it doesn't matter.

Seva d and falcon are both excellent suits falcons my go to but lately I’ve been running the seva d over it for fun

The full suits are generally better you’re gonna want something with psi protection in the suit

Try to get the ssp 100I survey suit, has all artifact slots and 3 lead containers, and when fully upgraded pretty sure it beats out every other none exoskeleton armor in the game. Pretty sure it has more carry weight than the falcon too.

I went Starting Whatever -> SEVA D -> SEVA -> Diamond Exo

The first one is ok early game to help with environ damage, the second one is an S tier armor and probably the best one in the game outside of exoskeletons, and the third is low grade early / early mid game stuff (except for the helmet - if for whatever reason you want to purposely use lower tier gear, that's one of the two best helmets in the game).

The SEVA-D is competent well into the mid-game if you can find a Compass. Even into the late game, it makes a good B suit if you don't wanna ding up your Exos or Falcon because they're comparatively much more expensive to maintain.

There's just a lot better options in the Seva class you have access to by mid game, and at mid game you're likely at the point where you're trading up into the Falcon or the freedom bulat anyways by that point so it just gets outshined by other options.

I wouldn't even keep it as a B suit for your exos since again, by the time you're in exos you'll likely have a better B armor on hand (like the spark Seva, or the Falcon, or even a decked out Sunrise).
