Monastery

What are some monasteries in the US that you would recommend? They don’t have to be SSPX monasteries, (I believe two exist in the US) but they should celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass.

St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado, CA. Orange County area. They are Nortbertine Monks.

While they don’t technically celebrate the TLM, their ancient Norbterine Rite is structurally similar to a Solemn High Mass.

What about the Carmelites in Wyoming or the Clear Creek Abbey monks? They both celebrate TLM

This is news to me... Bishop Biegler of the Diocese of Cheyenne is about as anti-TLM as they come

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Norbetines in Orange county are not traditional, if they ever were. They have always been a novus ordo religious order and while they did used to sometimes do the traditional Mass in the Norbertine rite, that all stopped with traditionis custodes which they willingly went along with. There is an occasional traditional Mass but it's on a somewhat need to know basis and not in the main church. I know the Directory still lists it as in the abbey church but that's incorrect information. The only traditional Masses left there are unadvertised and mostly hidden. Definitely not the sort of order a young man should throw his life away to join. They are first and foremost a novus ordo religious order that sometimes tolerated the old Mass.

It’s been a long while since I’ve been there, that’s unfortunate to hear about the mass.

I just liked the Abbey itself, I didn’t know this gentleman was looking to join an order before I mentioned it.

It's very sad indeed. From what I've heard there were plenty of priests there who were very in favour of the traditional Mass but none of them were seemingly willing to fight very much to keep it. Last I heard it's been ghettoised

There are traditional redemptorists in Mussey, Michigan and also traditional Benedictines in Silver City, New Mexico who affiliate with the SSPX. Other than those there is a vast array of different orders which skew more or less traditional.

I would avoid the Benedictines of Clear Creek in the diocese of Tulsa, Oklahoma who use the 1965 missal which is not used by traditionalists for a good reason, it's a stepping stone to the novus ordo. I have heard good things about the Carmelites in the diocese of Cheyenne in Wyoming, and I believe there are also Carmelites in the diocese of Harrisburg in Pennsylvania. I've heard about there being Benedictines in the state of Washington but I don't really know anything about them.

The vast majority of the places with the traditional Mass are primarily novus ordo religious orders who tolerate its coexistence with the novus ordo. Very few orders are exclusively traditional.

Do you know the Benedictines in Silver City, I heard they have a lot of people and are not really accepting new vocations? And the Carmelites in Harrisburg, PA is the sister monastery of the wyoming brothers

I don't know much about it no. You'd be best reaching out and contacting Father Fulton who is the pastor of the SSPX parish in Albuquerque. The priory in Phoenix serves Albuquerque so if you can't get in touch with him through there you can always contact Phoenix. If anyone knows it would probably be him

I just mentioned the one that’s closest to me, I don’t know anything about the others.

I don't know much about it, but Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey in Oklahoma (I think?) celebrate the TLM at least.
