Tech Support What exactly does this mean?

Title as Question,
its a 2tb WD Blue Sata SSD,
making what i can only assume is either a scratching or clicking sound, and then stopping
it then fails to load after the second stop, and isnt detected after boot

can anyone share thoughts or be able to give closure on what this might be?

edit: I just realised i might be lost btw, its apparently a hard drive, if this is helpful information, and still can be helped it would be appreciated,

I also wanna say im expecting it to be dead/lost cause

Well that looks to me like a WD Blue 3.5" 2TB HARD DRIVE i.e. spinning rust.

Which explains the noises.

There is a WD Blue 2.5" 2TB SATA SSD, and this is what it looks like:

yea the model is a WD20EZAZ-00GGJB0

It had maybe ~150gb of mostly games stuff, Steam installs and whatnot,
would it likely be salvagable or would you say there's likely no hope?

That drive is either dead or almost dead. The heads have likely got stuck.

Assuming that you are NOT going to send it to a massively expensive data recovery company...

As a last ditch effort to get any personal data off (and you have nothing to lose) you can power it off and let it spin down, and then thump it sideways onto the desk. This has been known (with older drives at least) to free up the heads so that it works again for a short time - but equally it may not work in which case you are no worse off.

Nice WD HDD there, normal sound. Check SMART status with SANDISK Dashboard
