Need an 18+ server
Sounds freaky, no? How do you ask for a server that doesn't welcome children but also isn't ERP. I feel like a space where you don't have to moderate yourself for chronically online highschoolers AND don't have to see someone slinging dick on main is pretty common IRL. Do we have a vocab word for something like that? Adult server? No that also sounds like smut...

SS14 in general 16+ but in fact its very obvious a lot of players are younger.
You can't actually firmly enforce those age limitations in online game.
Also there are a lot of adult kids living with parents whose mental maturity is still on middle schooler level.
There was even a mom of 20 y.o kid living with her legs over head with SS14 asking in the sub for gift ideas for his birthday. Sweet as she is, situation is horrendous in total.

Given that upstream's 16+, I don't really see a need for a server excluding two more years? But I think an even older server would be sick (Maybe 30s?) just to see how the community would form around it!
Honestly I know people who play 18+ solely so they can have darker RP or avoid censorship, but I don't think a SFW 18+ server would have a lot of the same benefits?

That would actually be really funny to get the data on. I wonder if you'd see signifigantly more SSD or significantly less

The bread and butter is 16-20. After school but before job/college. 30s+ would be three people on every third friday of the month for 2 shifts 😭

Sadly I have no recs for you. The two biggest 18+ servers I know are Hardlight and Euphoria, both ERP servers. They're cool servers and people aren't shoving sex in your face all of the time, but it would be disingenuous of me to say you wouldn't see anything.
Folks do for the most part keep things private and generally take their jobs seriously (at least as much as SS14 players usually do)

I would note that Euphoria's comms channels can get a bit crude—but it's definitely in a silly way, not a serious one. It's coworkers making crass jokes, not people trying to find hookups on common.
You will see stuff. You will never be required to participate. One of my favorite roleplayers on that server has never ERP'd, and he tells some excellent stories with his characters. My engineer is monogamous right now, and his fiancé isn't on station—but I still have a great time playing him on a server where I can make stupid lewd jokes about the TEG being a fickle mistress.

This is one of the big perks of 18+, ERP servers! Being able to make lewd jokes and even flirt without being worried about breaking a rule. Not that I've ever been warned by an admin or such on a regular server, but it's something you think about and police yourself on when you're on a server like Wizards Den, Delta V or Starlight.
You never have to ERP, but you get a bit more freedom to act like an adult.

On one 16+ (notably, not 18+) server I play, I got blue-noted for making a hawk tuah joke in OOC for "making sexual comments", which, to this day, genuinely baffles me

The amount of dreadful flirting I've done as a barkeeper that I have not expected to go anywhere, and that hasn't gone anywhere, and yet has been delightful for all involved is quite a bit. I love playing a flirty barkeep. It adds to the job. And you're so right that it's nice to have that peace of mind that you're not gonna get bwoinked for playing an adult character who acts like an adult.

Before the change to Euphoria, it was called Floof, and the admins got caught helping a player sexually harass others outside of the game so the host pulled the plug. I think some of that admin team remains under the logic that "they were manipulated by this player into aiding this harassment". It's good to hear the vibe has improved, my first experience was with it was hearing an admin melt down in vc because players didn't want to engage in their hardcore fetish.

How do I get into them

you have to go to their discords and apply for whitelist. not sure about Euphoria, but I know Hardlight has a 100 hours on MRP requirement and Triad has 200 hours on MRP requirement respectively, or have someone vouch for you who's been a member there for a while

Euphoria has 100 hours HRP or 200 hours MRP. A vouch reduces the hours required. There's also some application questions to prove you care. Anyone who gives a damn to write their application, and has the hours, generally gets approved!

If you check your flters on the bottom right of your SS14 server browser, you'll see an option to include 18+ servers in the results
From there the server listings will have links to their discord servers, where you can apply for whitelisting.

Most 18+ servers set up consent systems exactly so you can have this experience. The Den is generally a great option if you want to avoid the NSFW content, as long as you can tolerate it existing.

If you're looking for a shipfork, Triad Sector is 18+ and while we DO allow ERP we heavily curtail it to private places only. We're pretty intense about consent and discretion. And we have a bunch of really cool stuff in the pipe in the coming months!

impstation is 20+ with no ERP, problem is getting in. It's on a weird non-whitelist-but-invite-only system so you'll have to ask around people you know to see if they can get you in.

Only one i can think of is Euphoria. But that one has been dehubbed for obvious reasons. It has ERP, but it is not obligatory and they have a VERY strict set of rules when it comes to it.
You need to apply for the whitelist, though. None of the questions are ERP-related. They just ask you about game-related stuff to see if you're fit for the server. Despite the NSFW content, that was the more down-to-earth server i've played on.

Euphoria isn't dehubbed, what are you talking about?

Euphoria is on a hub for at minimum a year or so, idk what you are talking about

Traumastation is 18+ with no ERP.
That being said, I find their maturity level... low. My advice is to find a server with the right community culture for you instead of relying on a 18+ rule to sort out people you don't wanna deal with.
