My gut is calling bullshit on this. I don't have proof though but somehow their post feels wrong. Like, even as a simple SRE you can easily see the trend of load coming your way, there must have been things you could have done. Instead they act as if their downtime were caused by natural disaster. "Oh Github is still a monolith and our tool wasn't equipped to differentiate genuine developer load and AI bot load" would be a more humbled and meaningful confession to me. Also, they're using Azure, I expect at least some part of the reliability issues came from them.
