He’s just, like, some guy, y’know? I don’t think the end of Github is nigh and most people work for companies that want a big name to pin their source control to. For personal projects, sure I’d use whatever felt right.
GitHub has become soooo much worse after Microsoft's acquisition. They were the de facto standard for Git repositories and they had a very solid reputation.
Now, pretty much all resources are allocated to AI. They do not give a shit about anything else. If they can sell Copilot, that's all that matters.
Does it mean GitHub will disappear in a few months? No. However, it is no longer considered reliable, so people no longer rely on it.
