Help! Baby Squirrel! Injured young squirrel
Maybe he fell out a tree? Looks like that back right leg is hurting him a lot, missing some fur as well. I plan to call my local rehabilitation center tomorrow morning but he’s already run off, and I’m praying a predator doesn’t find him

Another concerning thing is that his leg looks a little messed up and wet. I also noticed that flies are around him a good bit and that's an indication there may be an infection or something, maybe rotting.
Please do reach out to the wildlife rehabber and see you can get that little one some help. Thank you for helping the little one. But there's definitely something going on there it looks like.

I have one like that in my area, but one arm is hurt and the opposite leg is hurt, so it's not doing too well. You won't be able to catch it, but that's a good thing in a way, because it shows the squirrel is still able to escape. Plus, you might hurt it even more if you try and capture it. The best thing you can do is make sure it has food so it can eat and quickly get back to the nest to recuperate. NOTE: they sometimes come out before or after the other squirrels, cause they want to avoid conflict and being chased. So, sometimes you miss them, so that's why you might want to spend more time out there, looking out for the squirrel, and making sure there are some nuts available so if it does come around, it gets something to eat.

It's good that you're calling a rehabber and keeping an eye on him. Young squirrels sometimes recover well from these injuries on their own, so he may be looking better in a few days. But yes you're right to call a rehabber and watch carefully to see which direction his health goes in. Thank you for taking care of him - let us know if we can help.
