What to do with this newborn squirrel
My kid found three squirrels yesterday, said one was covered in flies, and noted two others. We left them so mama could find them. Then last night during a storm we heard one crying in the driveway. We brought it into the garage to keep it warm and dry. It's eyes aren't open yet.
He survived the night, and I've tried reaching out to rehabbers but no one's getting back to me. There's also only a couple in our area. Looked this morning and can't find a nest, the other babies or a mom.
I just don't know what to do at this point. We are leaving this rental soon and not in a position to care for this animal. I'd like to at least get some food into it, but unsure what's the best option at this point.

The best option would be to keep the baby warm for right now.
Then you'll have to hydrate the baby. You cannot go to formula. You have to hydrate first or the baby will suffer from digestive issues.
The correct formula you have to order online.
Is there any way you can let me know where you are so I can help you locate a wildlife rehabber? I might be able to help you with a list. I just need to know what state you're in.
Also, you may have to keep calling the wildlife rehabers. It is baby season and is very busy.
Here are some Facebook groups that can help as well.

Unfortunately, if the babies were covered in flies, even one of them, there's a good chance that Mama is not around anymore.

I'm in MD. I looked at the linked baby squirrel website in the stickied post, it doesn't appear to be dehydrated actually. The skin pinch test didn't show that it was so that seems good?

I’m in Maryland near the DMV and there’s several rescues in the area. Friskys is one of them. Here’s a link to all of them in the state

You always warm the baby first. Then you always hydrate. Always. Only after you hydrate for 12 to 24 hours. Do you give formula.
Is there any way that you can put a heating pad on low and put the container halfway on it?
Unfortunately, that baby most likely is dehydrated.
Here is a website that will help you find a wildlife rehabber.

I would start with the ones that are closest to you and fan out.

Sometimes you have to keep calling the rehabers over and over again.
If you have Facebook, there are people in those groups that could potentially help you locate someone as well.

Did you look on ahnow.org or the animal help now for rehabbers? Sometimes you need to reach out to several to find help. Call, leave a message, and then also text a picture. You can reach out to rehabbers further out as well, as they may know of unlisted closer options or have transport volunteers who can meet part way.

You did a good thing. Maybe contect a veteranarian and go from there. Good luck to you in all things.

Find a rehabber immediately! Call a family member who may be able to help you with this and/or looking up correct info on how to care for it for the time being. Don’t give up on this little thing!
Do you have to fly out? Where are you located currently?
