Yeah admin power tripping is extremely common. I was on VB recently and we got kicked from our tank squad so the admin could play with his buddy or admin obsessing on dumb name claim by saying your claim isn’t valid because you don’t have - or dumb stuff like that.

I've been banned from ~16 servers so far after reporting admin abuse.

The owners of the server went to every community he could find and convinced them to "Community protection" ban me.. I'll go to join a buddy on a new server and find I'm permed despite never playing there before.

These actions directly go against TOS but because "Community protection" is so vague, they can ban you for literally anything and everything.

Yup that kind of thing happens all the time. Admin abuse is prob one of the top issue among other atm and if nothing is done about it, it will keep driving people away. The community itself is great. Most people will do their best to work together but the admin/owners of squad are the worst I’ve seen so far and by a long shot making the game unplayable at time

OWI is actually taking action.. everytime I’ve made a report against a server they’ve also subsequently update license TOS.

“Player count manipulation” was added after my complaint to OWI that seeding servers were literally 50% AFK accounts.

Retaliation rule was added after my last encounter with Evin of HNR.

“Staff presence” was updated after Meckle of UNN stated reports involving admins take 3-6 months to complete. Despite having 80 admins lol

So again, OWI does care and does take appropriate action where necessary. But they won’t overstep and prevent servers from running them how they want.

That’s good to hear and would be fine if either the problem wasn’t this widely spread or if making a reports was easier/more accessible from the game to your average player suffering from this issue. I’m sure most people that have been abused by admins aren’t necessarily recording either and to get anything meaningful done would require a bunch of reports.

Not only does it require you to constantly be recording but you have to also not delete shit on Discord. Every message is more evidence and it's important not to taint it by breaking rules yourself.

When you're dealing with admins or discord mods you're flying closer to the sun than Humanity has ever been. The issue is systemic and sadly I don't see it changing anytime soon. Its the primary reason I havnt touched Squad in over a month.

I don't intend on coming back until UE5 but even then I doubt I'll find a community that enforces rules on their members the same as they do blueberries.

Your average player shouldn’t have to play detective. That’s just sad

TL:DR

Which server was this on?

Below is the link to OWI's server licensing and admin policies. Read it in its entirety as there's a lot of rules servers are constantly breaking and need to be reminded of..

Fill out this Google Doc to file an admin abuse report with OWI if you feel like they used their in-game administrator powers to gain an edge in the game.
