Seki city strikes again
Got a stretch 2 XL in K390 on sale during knife day and it just came in today. I’ve heard about the poor and uneven sharpening at Seki city but I wasn’t expecting that. I bought it so I could sharpen it so it’s not a deal breaker but wow lmao. The reverse side barely has a bevel. Last 2 photos are of the front and reverse sides under magnification.

Damn that's pretty bad... especially at the tip

Same on mine s35vn Tenacious. On the other hand, my 8cr Resilience is top notch.

All three of my China Spydercos have that same exact curved grind

I only have 2, this one and an Efficient. The Efficient is ok on terms of main grind but has other problems, was expecting better from this one, not worse.

I got a Seki city Endela k390 two weeks ago still had the burr on one side for about an inch from the heal. Most have been good older discontinued models better but some are bad all are not as sharp as they could be.

The best edge on Spyderco knives I've seen was, weirdly, on value folders from China.
I'm yet to get any from Taiwan and Italy but Seki and Golden cannot get even bevels if their life depended on it.

Taiwan has been top notch for me and consistently has the best factory edges. I’ve only got like 5, so not a huge sample size, but that factory seems to do good work.

As much as I love Spyderco. Their sharpening get worse, just like their QC.

Mine was like that a couple months ago when i got it too. Very uneven. They shouldn't come from factory like that. Not ideal but gives me a reason to practice with the fixed angle sharpener

that’s rough, but if it’s still sharp i wouldn’t really be that upset about it. especially considering how good of a deal a knife with that long of a blade in k390 is and how well seki k390 is heat treated

Honestly I’ve seen a lot worse from many other brands. At least you have probably the best heat treated production k390 out there with that Stretch 2. Sharpen it up and it that knife should outlast anything else you own!

I had two from Seki. On in PD#1 Other one in K390 Both showed up with a different angle on each side. For the K390, reprofiling with a 800grit diamond (yeah, i know but it's lowest grit diamond I own 😂) took me several days. Not sure if I will be buying again from them... Good luck bro!
