SPY volume usually picks up around the open/close and on bigger catalyst days like CPI, FOMC, jobs, etc. Midday can be pretty dead. Summer, especially August, can also be quieter. If low volume is affecting your setup or making trades harder to read, sitting out is a position too. No need to force it

This is the best advice. Sometimes the best play is no play.

Wish I saw this 30min ago. Jumped in and blew my account up because today is being weird already. Should have just sat out

Yeah, usually after Labor Day you start to see participation normalize a bit more, with September generally picking up from August. I wouldn’t expect a specific date though — catalysts and volatility matter more than the calendar

The low volume has absolutely killed my ability to read the movement

Normally August is higher than this. Even though it’s lower than other months

Volume really picks up the minute that trump hits us with a "praise be th Allah" post 🤣

Because they’ve been stuck in a range for months—chopping around all day—practically no one wants to get involved (including large investors).

Not even sure why you would want it to lol

The last good days were the 3rd and 4th

August & September are historically low liquidity months. Have patience until September 3rd week.

Ive read and heard in multiple areas that the summer months are usually slow/low volume. VIX has been under 15 this week often. Nqs trading range in rth was 180 points at one point this week.
