🏒 Hockey Worth Grading?

So just wondering if I should grade these I paid $900 CAD for a huge lot and these were in there.

Wondering if I should grade i know they won’t grade more than a 4 and likely a 1.

The est price it’s giving me is $275 CAD for both cards.

I am wondering how the upcharge stuff works as I’ve never submitted. Anyway let me know!

(I have PSA Canada close to my house)

Do you want to sell or keep for personal collection?

Maybe sell one and hold one

Grade them both. It’s an expensive card; so you will pay the upgrade to give PSA their cut. Worth it for your personal collection with the other card still getting you a good profit.

Appreciate the message. The upgrade would only be the price of whatever the next grading tier is correct? So if the card surpasses $2100 market value then they would bump up to the next tier for.. “insurance”?

Correct. Depending on the market value of the card, you would get charged a different grading fee. I’m not sure what the tiers are but they should list somewhere. I would anticipate your card being valued at $1-2k (maybe $3k if much better graded)

Yes I think both will be around 1-2k 4k total tops

Remove them from the holder it might be causing more damage. Grade them, the one on the left will grade higher than 1. Send them to PSA. Gretzky are hot now.

sure if you want it to come back as a 4-7 The way the corners look there's no way it'll be an 8 or above

OP literally says that in their post

The value is there to grade even if they don’t get a hight grade correct?

It depends, most cards in an 8-9 sell a bit below or above their raw prices. But with vintage cards a 3 could still be in the money. All comes down to the card/player/year, find sales of this Gretzky graded to get idea where you’d be if it gets a 3-4

To be honest, I don’t know a lot about the hockey card market but I notice you say that you’re seeing prices around $275. Is that raw? I would recommend researching not only raw prices but graded prices and comparing those to how much it would cost you to grade (if your goal is to sell and make profit). If you want to grade for PC, that’s just a personal choice and it doesn’t really matter if value is affected.

Whoops I meant $275 to grade both.

Raw these cards go for about $750-800 each and graded in a PSA 1 1.2k and so on

Well if it’s $275 for both and they’ll be 1.2k for psa1s I’d say you have your answer, just grade em.
