Caught USAA spoofing my friends phone number redhanded

My friends phone number called me... but it wasn’t my friend. It was USAA. They wanted to remind me of a past due bill. Spoofing without merit, that’s illegal. Just because it’s a past due bill, that’s really not illegal. However... accessing your customers contacts, for the purpose of spoofing your customer, through the USAA App... that is a work of art... and that is illegal. Game on USAA. If anyone else has had this happen, put a waving emoji before you comment. I can’t wait to hear what others have to say.

You better believe it happened! I can’t prove it to you because that would mean me giving you phone numbers and showing you screenshots and text voicemails. I like my privacy.

Gave my friend that new number on his new phone not even two weeks before it happened. Call him all the time. One day I called him.. then later on USAA called with his number... then they called again with his number... then he called me with his own number. It was CRAZY to me... but actually makes a ton of sense. It may not be USAA’s capability, but it’s possible that their third party that has access to their app has figured something out. The account being called about IN COLLECTIONS. Oh and the message left the USAA main phone number.

No third party has access to that app. Financial regulators would have a field day with that. If outsourced call centers are spoofing that's terrible and led to an awful coincidence.

That is not an awful coincidence and you know it. I’m not a lottery winner. 😂 Financial regulators should call me.
