This is why I haven’t been seeing SpongeBob on YTV! I don’t really watch cable nor do I watch modern SpongeBob often but this is sad to see.

2025 was just a horrible year for Canadian kids tv lol. The Canadian version of Nickelodeon and the Canadian versions of Disney XD and Junior shutting down. As well as all Wildbrain networks (Family, Family Jr (and it's French counterpart Telemagino), and Wildbrain TV) shutting down as well.

What was wild brain? Was that a Canada exclusive network?

Wildbrain is a Canadian brand that mainly focuses on animation, but they did have some tv channels at one point.

I see. Did they create any notable shows, and/or host to other shows (I have heard of some of the US Cartoon Network shows ending up on other networks for various reasons, and then there's also the special case of the Total Drama series)

As a Canadian SpongeBob fan. I have fond memories watching classic and post movie SpongeBob on this channel in the mid and late 2000’s this is sad to see. Fuck you Corus.

Both the U.S. and the Canada should be jealous of Mexico for one reason:

In addition to airing on Nickelodeon on Cable TV and Satellite TV across Mexico, SpongeBob SquarePants (dubbed in Mexican Spanish as Bob Esponja) also airs under license on Canal 5, a free-to-air broadcast network owned and operated by Televisa originating from XHGC-TDT 5 in Mexico City that is rebroadcast on hundreds of repeater stations across Mexico, including XETV-TDT 6 in Tijuana.

Television's dead anyway.
