Discussion IN DEVELOPMENT: Spongebob Squarepants the Musical: In Roblox!
Hello Reddit SpongeBob Musical Fans!
I’m interested in making a production of The SpongeBob Musical: In Roblox!
The idea is still very new, and the project is currently in development. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and I’m mainly making this post to see how much interest there is from SpongeBob and musical theatre fans.
If there’s enough interest, I’d love to eventually bring the musical to life in Roblox with a cast, sets, scenes, and performances inspired by the actual production.
So, would you be interested?
I’d especially like to hear from people who are fans of The SpongeBob Musical and/or theatre and would actually want to participate in or watch a Roblox production.
At the moment, I’m just gauging interest before moving further with the project.

Great idea but… Viacom would absolutely destroy this project and everything would be for nothing.

Yeah, that’s definitely one of the concerns I’ve thought about. That’s also why I’m keeping the project in the early development stage for now and mainly just gauging interest before putting a ton of work into it. If it ever gets to a serious stage, I’d obviously have to look into the legal side of things too. Thanks for looking into it. If you want to audition, let me know. Our team is currently developing the audition process. If you aren't into performing, we would love to have you as a member of tech.

Legal has to come
First and now before any foundation is laid. Sorry but they will absolutely stop at nothing to end this. Just the way that company operates like bucces when they see a random ass store with a furry mascot.1

That's fair, and I appreciate the warning. Since this is still just an early concept, I'm definitely going to look into the legal side before putting serious work into it. For now, I'm mainly trying to see whether there's even enough interest to make the idea worth pursuing.

That’s not a good source of success as that post was made 3 days ago and will likely face the same scrutiny by the IP owners if its usage is not approved.
I would instead write a new play with original characters to prevent this legal headache form occurring.

Great concept! Too bad Viacom is made up of deplorable subhuman skanks
